A group of men threatend to Sodomize me tonight.

I've always wanted to have somebody's grill surgically removed from my fist. Tell them if they were men it wouldn't take five of them. I'm sure it was emasculating, and I'm sorry it happened to you, I would have smashed somebody's face in. I guess I'm guilty of using violence to solve problems.

Most of the "thugs" down here with Lexus cars are just posers who work at blockbuster and are about to get their wheels took by the repo man. I've always been more scared by the crazy bastards that look like their car is about to explode, but it's still got spinners.

Don't let it get you down, guys like that will get theirs sooner than later.

My keys are kept on a 3", steel, load bearing carabiner. It is legal anywhere in the US. Planes, trains, bars, schools, anywhere. You might want to pick up a maglite, too. C/D cell depending on the size of your hands. Having some additional light walking to/from the bus can be nice, right?

I think you should report it.

I would report it, just in case they did get a hold of anyone later on... You might have a better description then the possible victim.

PRazz, you might want to check the concealed carry laws in Kentucky. TSA may not care if you have a gun outside of security, but it may be illegal by state law. The airport here is owned by the city and therefore considered government, and we discussed in the ccw class that it is off limits.

Most airports are. So if you can't carry on gov't property, you might not be able to carry on airport property.

I've never understood why they will take a $500 car that barely runs, and put $4000 worth of rims and $2000 worth of speakers on it...

Yet, I see it all the time...

Get out your cellphone and snap a picture of the car and occupants.
Can you carry pepper spray?

Can't have a cellphone inside UPS without special permission. Cannot carry any weapons. I explicitly asked my Full time supervisor's supervisor. He said they'll fire you if you bring it onto UPS property and that includes the parking lot.

Anyone remember the L&P thread about an Ohio UPS worker who got fired for having a gun in his trunk?

Did you get the license plate #??

I was too busy watching these fools and making sure I did not have to run.

Are there lockers in the public area of the airport where you could lock your gun up while you work? CC is usually not prohibited before the metal detectors in the concourse...

There are two that I know of. One set is within a security barrier that requires me to scan my badge for the rotary gate to open. The second is near where I go through a guard shack, but is a separate facility called UPS WorldPort. It is outside security and I have thought about it before, believe me. But I don't know who or why or when they can go in them and I can get fired. The fear of being fired is greatly reduced when compared to being gang raped by bangers or murdered.

May I suggest a slight revision for positive spin?

+1 to giving up on the bus. Get a bicycle. Use daylight to your advantage to plan routes through the tougher areas.
If you absolutely must take the bus, blend in. Visit the thrift store for an old army field jacket, some nasty ass cordoury pants, an old ball cap. Wear good running shoes, but make sure they're dirty and nappy. Look like you belong in the ghetto.

unless you provoke them I don't think they'll do anything

I will never gamble my life or the lives of those I love on an assumption like this.

I work for UPS in an airport and cannot carry

Do you have to go through metal detectors and security? If it's just company policy and not law, I'd ankle carry and keep my mouth shut.

Kentucky is an open carry state correct? I bet the brothers would not have rolled up on you if you had a big shiney 1911 on your hip.

I have worked at airports for over 10 years and have traveled extensively around the country. I have never been to an airport that allowed you to carry a firearm into the terminal. Working for UPS, you would be working on the cargo ramp or in a sorting facility. The sorting facility here has metal detectors (and it's off airport property). Can you carry pepper spray at work? I think it would be reasonable to do so considering your situation and they may allow you to check it at security before work.

I work in a federal facility now and I think the only way I would be allowed to have a gun is to leave it in my car off the facility and walk to work.

By federal law, you are allowed to carry right up to the security checkpoints. After the metal detectors, if you come in to possession of a gun or ammunition, you are in deep ****.

vis-à-vis:

You need to enroll in a MILITARY style of martial art. You need to pursue it to an expert level. Trust me when I say, not all Blackbelts are of equal quality. I have had Blackbelt students who I opined could not beat their way out of a wet paper bag. I have had other Blackbelt students who became certified instructors whose skills were astonishing.

People can crow all they want about guns V martial arts, but I can assure you, a quality ATA or USTA Blackbelt instructor will have landed 3 or 4 devistating blows to a bad guy's body before they can even touch their weapon. You need to assure that your instructor is expert, and is expert is disarming.

The USTA (United State Taekwondo Alliance) is no longer in business. The ATA (American TaeKwonDo Association) is good, but check into the instructor, and advise him or her that you need private instruction in addition to class instruction. You also need access to the workout room and equipment in addition.

As I said, people can crow all they want about weapons V martial arts. I have had to disarm people on three occassions, and I am alive, and nearly unscathed: 1 gun, one broken glass and 1 set of home made steel nunchukas have been taken from these morons. How proficient you will become depends on your commitment. I was professional and put myself through college via owning a TKD school. I worked out as a job, 6 hours per day.

Maybe it's time you begin a career change. Owning a matrial arts school can be a reality within 12 to 14 months. The pay wasn't bad either, and I met a hundreds of awesome like-minded people. Best of all, it will give you an oppotunity to work with, and train LEOs on a 1 to 1 basis, or in small teams. I ultimately was offered a contract to operate the ATA Nat'l Headquarters in Little Rock, but declined inorder to accept the same of the USTA in Knoxville. In the end, you will be able to carry your pistol with far greater confidence that you will not need to draw it as quickly, for greater self-confidence.

I will keep you in my prayers.

Umm... can we test your theory? I have plenty of ammo, how many instructors do you have available? That is NOT threat, by the way!

My answer would be something like, " and the first one out is going to have his brains decorating the pavement."

Jeets: Airsoft works pretty well for that sort of martial arts training. Well, and racquetball goggles. :)

But I think you might be surprised, especially if the MA guy is within 21 feet of you.

Ask Correia about it. :)

To the OP: Sounds like you did the right thing. Would have been better if you could have gotten a plate number, but hey, stressful situation, so no points off there. It sounds like you have a truly sucktacular confluence of factors at play here. I hope things work out for you and you find a way to carry proper self-defence tools to work. (Or find another job. :) )

Here is my .02, take it for what it is worth:

Life is full of choices. The choice of where you live, the choice of where you work, the choice of transportation, etc.

I, personally, would never live where I could not protect myself. I would never work for an employer who would leave me as vulnerable as you appear to be. If I was you, I would look for another line of work. I might also choose to live in another locale. The stakes are too high.

Indeed. Denver International isn't a disarmed victim zone either.
