and today I put another 870 exp on L-way<<<<<but this one is a short bbl for the sole purpose of HD and it was cheaper than a new short bbl for my other 870's......
I JUST CANT STOP.....I see all these guns I want and I just cant say no...ACTUALLY...I go to a lot of pawn shops and look for the good deals and if I find one I cant pas up,,,,I dont pass it up

Well......the electricity is still on.....so I get on this wanderfull forum....LOL

Sheesh even I will wait at least ONE day after getting one home before I even HUNTING for my next purchase .

as I said.....I find it hard to pass up a good deal or some thing I realy want....on good thing about shopping the pawn shops is most only ask for 10% down and give you 90 days to pay for it, therefore I am not out a lump sum at one time.

You do have to be careful tho and do some research....I saw a PT145 today for $399.....I bought mine NIB w/2 mags for $330. I saw an old and well used PT111 the other day for $450.....I didnt waist any time telling the guy behind the counter how over priced that gun was (nicely not rude).

Relax, it really does go in waves. I went almost 3 years w/o buying a new gun & I'm in shops ALL THE TIME and then w/in 6 months, I bought 2 handguns & 2 ARs. Besides, it would irresponsible to walk away from all those good deals ;)

Yes, it's kind of like a binge after being on a diet for a while. After a while, fiscal reality sets in a you reorder your priorities. For a time.

Just don't go to Turners looking for deals, I was down there last night, they wanted $759 for a CPO P220, right next to the $829 brand new one.

Sure, Sig certified it, and Sigs are great.... but 91% value retention? Gimme a break.

ok, I've read this about four times now, and... what's the problem?

It's an addiction. Fortunately there is a 12 step program to help. You can join our local chapter. We meet every Saturday morning 10am at the shooting range. Bring all your guns and a few hundred rounds of ammo and let us help you with your addiction. :D

I agree with 10-Ring it definately goes in waves, i'll go 4-8 months without wanting or buying anything then get 4 in one month. Its just gettting when the prices are good and playing with what you have while your waiting for the next deal to come your way.

Resistance is futile

It's too late to "Help" you. :neener:

GIve in, buy another and enjoy. :D
Iffin' you're married, buy guns which look like the ones you already have.

"Why no sweetie, it ain't new, that's been in the back of the safe for a long time."

Worked for me.

Till I filled up the safe anyways... :uhoh:

Definately an addiction, but it sure as hell beats hanging out in the casinos or bars! Plus, the guns hold value so you actually haven't really spent ALL the money. Now is that rationalization or what? I haven't been to the range for about 10 days and I am going through withdwawl. Wouldn't we make an interesting 12 step group? :D

If you're getting good deals, you don't have a problem, you're investing in your retirement. The $150 you outlay for a gun that is worth $500....you just MADE $350.

OK...
Let me see if I have this correct...

I have an ADDICTION...
that is NOT a problem...
because it's for MY RETIREMENT...

WOW...I really like all my new friends on here...just wish my G/F would see it the same way. Good thing she likes guns too. OH DAMN...that reminds me...I forgot one. I have to go buy her one for her B-DAY this weekend. That sounds like a good way to justify my little....

Thanks guys

Well, I am guilty again.....
but its ok this time because I bought HER a gun this time, for her B-Day.
I got her a Taurus PT111 (9mm) Mill Pro/stainless. She Loves it.
Get this story...or another excuse to but another gun.....
We left the gun show and went to Wal-Mart to get some ammo for her new gun. While I was waiting for the associate to show up at the counter, I just so happened to look up to the top shelf. I saw a shot gun bbl. I found that strange since Wal-mart no longer carries guns in the area. So i picked it up to look at it. It was a 20" slug bbl w/rifle sights for an 870 exp. 20ga.
When the lady showed up I asked her about it and if i could buy it. She called the manger over. When he got there, I asked him if I could but it even tho it didnt have a tag or price on it. I also mentioned that probably wasnt even in the invintory anymore and he agreed. Then he looked at it, then me, then asked if I was willing to pay $5.00 for it. YES I SAID....FIVE DOLLARS.... so he rang it up...
I still cant believe it. I just bought a bbl that retails for $165 for FIVE DOLLARS.
However....since I dont have an 870 20ga, I am now FORCED to go buy me another gun.....dam the luck....lol

See David, you are SAVING money, you just SAVED $160 that you wouldn't have had before, now if you can find a good used 870, you can use the money you saved to buy it!

glad you found this support group, it is nice to hear the truth that there is nothing wrong with you, addiction to guns is perfectly healthy and normal!

With inflation running at somewhere around 7% (some brainy-types' best guess now that the gov't has stopped publishing some data useful for figuring out just how many extra dollars the gov't creates out of thin air), I'm considering firearms (and ammo) purchases to be more of an investment than anything else as of late: once someone owns a .22, a 9mm, a .30-06, and a 12-gauge, what else does that person *need*?

Then again, good-quality firearms can "hold" their value - it's not too likely they're increase in value (unless new ones are banned and existing items grandfathered), but to some extent they will keep their relative value even as prices rise and inflation undermines your savings... and they're quite a bit more useful than a lump of gold (though not often as pretty).

I know the feeling. Instant I got my P-345 home, I'm already shopping for a .45LC single action revolver.
