I just took my course last sunday and am eager for my license to come in. How long did it take for you? They say anywhere from 60 to 90 days.

It depends on which state you are in, and in some cases, if you are a resident of that state.

Utah has up to 90 days for residents at this point.

I'm from Columbus (Franklin County), Ohio.

I took my class over the course of a weekend, the following week I was busy w/school and work, so I had to wait until Friday to turn in my paperwork.

I went in on a Friday afternoon with my $45, passport photo and certificate of completion (for the Ohio CHL class requirements)...

They called me the following Monday when they opened and told me to come pick up my license.

Total time between applying and recieving a license: about 42 hours.

Edited to add: It can take up to 45 days according to everything I've read. IIRC a friend of mine from the same class had to wait about 30 days for his, but I've never been arrested. He'd been arrested for a misdemeanor something-or-other, so there are pobably other factors that can delay getting your license.

NC It took 77 days for mine to come in. Was told could be up to 90. This was back in March.

Mass--about 45 days. This was 3 years ago--it runs out next year.
New Hampshire Non Resident--about 10 days.

LA = 30 days almost exactly. Mailed in just before Thanksgiving and got it right before Christmas Eve. Merry Christmas to me.

I walked out with it the same day I applied for it. Here in Blount County,Alabama we can renew our CCWs by mail. In fact my wife just put a postage stamp on our renewals.

When I first applied for my permit in 1973, I was 20 years old. I went to the County Sheriff's office, filled out the paperwork and waited for an "interview" with the sheriff. When I was able to talk to the sheriff,he asked standard questions like "what do you want to carry a pistol for?". Then he asked "THE" question which is very common in the South. "Who is your daddy?" When I told him he turned to his secretary and said "Write this man a pistol permit" then turned to me and said "If you're half the man your daddy is, you wont have any trouble getting this renewed". Something that I'll NEVER forget.

2 months for my CO permit (Larimer county).

it varies hugely by county though, the socialist counties in the Denver area WILL take 3 months (the legal max), and not a day less.

El Paso county (Colorado Springs area) has a kick ass sheriff who will issue in 1-2 weeks normally.

For my non resident Utah, about 2 months, but this was a year ago, I hear they are way backed up right now.

NH non resident was 2 weeks door to door.

Well I had to wait around 9 months for mine to come back. Seems it was a problem with the State wanted to know why I would need one. But then again this is Tn. They really didn't want to give any out. Bs wanted to know why i needed one or was I trust worthy etc. I guess so the local S.O. issued me a m16 to carry. But then it was just left and right hand not talking to each other. Nothing new there. It's around 45 days now. Boss found out and wanted to know why I needed one. Sometimes its best to keep the certifications comming and not let everyone know what you do.

I've been waiting on mine for a week. They told me at the Sheriff's office the state was running behind, due to the volume of permits. They were apologetic because it could take up to 21 days.

I like it here.

Florida - took mine 88 days to get to me from the time I mailed it in.
I called a few times and they said my fingerprints weren't back from the FBI
(on another call they said the FDLE so I don't know who was looking at them)
Most people I know got theirs back in less than 60 days. I hear that it can be as short as two weeks if you do the electronic fingerprinting.

in Tennessee it took me 29 days from paperwork and fingerprints to receiving it in the mail. It actually was issued in 21 days, the other 8 days was the mailing process I guess.
