One of the last woodless Danes to leave the CMP. I got it on May 14th from the good folks in Anniston. Then sent off to The Garand Guy for a new Citadel barrel, then off to Springfield for a $75 park job.
Here's a shot of the engraved bolt that I had to polish smooth before parking.
Check out the double stamping on the bolt.
Citadel barrels are out of mil. spec. and one of the major errors was the slot cut in the left side of the barrel was too high, thus the handguard sits too high. About 1/16" high.

This is one of two that I bought right at the end of the runs for the LWD rifles. The first one I got had the original barrel and I put it in an old stock I had. Looks like a nice old Garand that has seen some action. I'm giving that one to my oldest son for his 18th Birthday. This one is going to my youngest son on his 18th Birthday. Now I just have to test fire it, clean it, lube it, then store it for 6 years!
New parts were a replacement trigger guard since the posts were worn flat and a new gas cylinder since mine was worn out of spec. And a new butt plate. My oldest Son is a collector of sorts, so he gets the original unfinished Garand, and my youngest loves shooting, so he gets this nice rebuild for shooting.
