Jesse Jackson and his cronies have been picketing a Chicago area gun shop and calling for "1 gun a year" laws. Jackson (the civil rights crusader) has now declared that he is organizing anti-rights protests in 25 cities nationwide on August 28. We think that would be a great day for GunVoters to turn out and exercise their rights - march - petition - purchase - carry - and generally support gun rights and the industry that supports them.
Local groups should organize shoots, picnics, lobby days, etc.

Here's more from the latest Knox Report:

Buy a Gun on August 28

In honor of the anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.’s historic “March on Washington” for civil rights, The Firearms Coalition is joining with other gun rights groups to declare August 28 “National Exercise Your Rights Day.”
Reverend Jesse Jackson is calling on citizens to exercise their First Amendment rights by participating in anti-gun/anti-violence protest marches in 25 cities nationwide on that day. The Firearms Coalition echoes that call to supporters of the Second Amendment, encouraging them to exercise their rights by purchasing a firearm or ammunition on August 28.
“We have the right to live safe and secure, no matter where we live in America,” Rev. Jackson said during a prayer vigil at Chuck’s Gun Shop in a Chicago suburb.
“That’s absolutely right” said Jay Knox, Executive Director of The Firearms Coalition, “Mr. Jackson has made a valid point and we believe the best way to ensure that safety and security is for responsible citizens to have the means to defend themselves. The idea that all violence is bad is simply incorrect. Violence is sometimes the only way to stop evil and brutality. When used in this way, violence is an agent of good.” said Mrs. Knox
“Gunowners trust our fellow citizens and have no fear of them having the means to effectively engage in righteous violence when necessary. Martin Luther King preached and practiced non-violence, but he did so with armed Deacons around him and a loaded pistol in his pocket. It seems that Dr. King understood that the right to arms and self defense are basic civil rights and were an integral part of the civil rights battle he waged.”
Mrs. Knox went on, “While Jesse Jackson and his followers are out exercising their rights to assembly and to petition the government, calling for more limits on gun rights, gunowners should be exercising their First and Second Amendment rights, buying that new gun, stocking up on ammo, and sending a message to their elected representatives that attempts to interfere with gunowners civil rights will not be tolerated.”
The Firearms Coalition is further encouraging local groups to stage active counter-protests, picnics, and marches to clearly demonstrate that a majority of Americans support all civil rights for all citizens, not the watered-down, pick-and-choose version of civil rights advocated by Jackson and his RainbowPush coalition.

Do we know what 25 cities are slated for Jackson's attack yet? Have heard about this several times, but never any cities listed.

Hi Linda,
I don't think they know what cities yet. It looks like a case of Jackson making a brag and then trying to get his groupies to make it good. I'd like to see high profile pro-gun activity nationwide and particularly I''d love to see reports of a record sales day for gun shops across the country.
I'm talking with a couple of grassroots leaders about ideas for something more formal and organized; if you have any ideas on the subject, I'd love to have the input.
That goes for everyone on this forum: Any ideas for ways to make the strongest possible statement in response to cousin Jessie's call to action, let's hear them and get something rolling.

another fine example of how Jackson stirs up sh*t to make himself a dollar.
He's jumping from the racist card deck to RKBR. We need to participate to shut him down.

OK, well, I just took a bullet for all of you and visited Jesse's website in an attempt to discover which cities will be protest cities and I found nothing. Geez, what a website of deceit, lies, and detritus he has. I may have to shower now.

I'll keep trying to acquire the list, but I'm not exactly confident it's worth our efforts. I can't think of any current public figure residing deeper in the dust bin of irrelevancy than Jesse at the moment.

JJ had withdraw symptoms...he didn't have a camera on his face! So, to hide his camera addition, he goes out public, under the guise of concern of humans other than himself.

Harbinger - Right on!! If you can't afford a firearm, buy ammunition, cleaning supplies, get a group together and go to the local range. Make it a true 'counter' demonstration.

Doc2005 - Your are right on target, Sir. The Rev Jackson is having attention deficit (not the disorder). Meanest thing people can do to him is ignore him (kinda like the old joke, What does a sadist do to a masochist? Ans: Nothing).

DeltaGunner - He's quite a bit like a seagull. He swoops in, dumps a lot of s%$t, then leaves to the sound of "Jessie want some garbage, awk, screech".

I will return to my sensory deprivation cubicle now.

I think I can wait until then to make my purchase coordinated ;)

If you're worried about spreading the word, put a link to this in your sig until 8.28 to draw some attention to it.

Talked to one fellow at the local watering hole this morning who has a firearm on layaway at a local gun shop. Plans have been laid to pay it off on 28 August.

I love it when a plan comes together...Nice!!

Now, I need to figure out what to add to my collection (or accumulation) on that day. The voices are getting louder in my head. I can't ignore them.

Add me to the group, will make it a point to pick up something new on that date!

I would be very surprised if Jesse managed to get people gathering for him in 25 cities at once.

I wonder if he's going to protest in NYC. I'd give the name that he uses for NYC, but i'm afraid it isn't very High Road. Hopefully he'll come to Detroit and we can stage some sort of Pro Civil Rights event here.

Support

I bumped the support for the 28th, and intend to participate.
As for cliff47 and his pleasant remark, please return to your cubicle.
It's as* bags like you who would defile ones right to free speech and opinion if it some how runs a different direction than yours. Feel free to jump in Jacksons bed and sooth him.

Deltagunner-I believe that Cliff47 was making that comment about JJ and not you. Kind of seems like he was going with your previous comment on that one.

Oh yeah, Jesse Jackson needs to crawl back into the hole that he came out of, the world doesn't need people like him or Hilary Clinton.

DeltaGunner,
My apologies, Sir, for any comments that were misconstrued. I was referring to the Rev Jackson, not you.

While I don't agree with just about anything the man says, I will defend his right to put his foot in his mouth and chew vigorously.

Peace??

I understand the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms has called for just this type of 'counter' protest. That is exactly what it would be, with a lot of additional activity at the checkout counter. Maybe with all the activity we could get the NICS to chase its face into the carpet. Kinda conjurs up a mental image, eh? Check out the CCRKBA web site at www.ccrkba.org

Well I will be at my liberal anti gun college on that date but I might purchase a shotgun sometime in august before the 12th.
