Could some of you guys come post a comment over at this blog http://mainehuntingtoday.com/bbb/?p=2382 to help deal with some people who are advocating a ban on ARs, AKs, etc. for hunting. If you would just post a comment to counter the Jim Zumbo argument, so that these people don't have free reign over the hunting world. I am the only one who has commented refuting the zumbo position.

No I won't. Simply because they have to come to that realization on their own. Stubborn old men won't change simply because you present a logical argument. If it is an appearance issue nothing will change their perceptions. If it is an irrational fear issue only hands on familiarization will change their hearts. If it is ignorance and only plain ignorance and not willfull ignorance education might work but there would be a lot of stubborness to overcome.

Dang that riflin' anyhow. Spins the dang ball. Whoever heard of a ball spinnin' anyhow. Should fly straight an' true, not spinnin' to beat all heck. (I guess there are wimmin on this board, or I'd use my General Store Sittin' Around The Pickle Barrel lingo.)

To the OP - save your effort. It's a good effort, but a failed one in my experience. People don't change their opinions outside of their own volition.

Having said that, I usually get dressed up in my Tarzan suit (don't ask), and wait on a tree limb for an unsuspecting deer to come strolling under. Then I jump down and cut its throat with my Glock field knife. :D

I resemble that !

Then I jump down and cut its throat with my Glock field knife.

Here we go again ! New fangled assualt knife - no place in the hunting field for that !

OK - OP , I will go look to see what's up over there .

I cannot remember the name of Zumbo's TV show, but it is back on the air.

A month ago or so I watched Uncle Ted's show and Zumbo's came on right after. In the Zumbo show he opened in regard to his previous statements about black rifles. He continued on in a very contrite manner explaining his ignorance and his new found education on them. In his show which almost entirely dealt with his educational process of the black rifle he took a shooting class and was accompanied by Nugent. Zumbo is now on the side of the black rifle.

I also realize many members here on THR never ever change their opinion on things, and once an anti (especially if it is someone famous) then always and anti. But I say give the man a break, he learned and changed his ways.

Guns? Sticks? Rocks? Teeth?

Pfft!

Back in m' boyhood, all we needed was a stern glance.

I was gonna advocate Matchlocks, but you guys left me in the dust.

Seriously, I once met a below-average-I.Q.- laboror who killed a deer with a four foot level.

People who witnessed it assured me that this guy spotted a deer near a construction site, and grabbed a four foot mahogany level and just TOOK OFF after that deer. Apparently the deer was so amazed it failed to make it over a barbed-wire fence before this lunatic caught up to it, and in a frenzy, beat it to death.

I don't understand the "No 'assault weapons' in the woods" crowd.

These rifles, the AR-type in particular...

...are very light-weight

...have superior ergonmics

...shoulder very naturally

...have low-recoil

...are designed to minimize muzzle jump (easy follow-up shot, if ya need it)

...are available chambered for a myriad of "sporting" cartridges

...are superbly accurate

What's not to like?????

I didn't see his show, who were the sponsers?

thats funny right there, like I pay any attention to commercials, LOL

I guess the same ones on the other show on Outdoor Channel on Tuesday nights.
