I caught the last 20 minutes of this stupid movie last night and wondered where I could buy a copy of the SKS rifle they were using.

1) It had a double-action trigger! The "good guy" ran out of rounds but the bolt didn't stay back. Instead, he pulled the trigger a few more times producing a "click! click! click!" like an empty double action revolver. Neat-o! :scrutiny:

2) A minute later, I heard the good guy's girlfriend racking the slide on a shotgun. Wait a minute... They put the camera on her and she's holding the SKS! So now it's a pump action assault rifle with re-strike! :what:

Where can I buy one of these? I'm surprised the director didn't make it belt-fed with six rotating barrels. Guess he couldn't find a copy of the "SKS gatling gun" that the girl could lift...

I've heard of movies where technical advice was lacking in some area but that movie has to be right up there with the super ill-informed, lame-o movies. Was the plot OK, at least?
Way to watch for glitches.

Don’t you know the SKS is a master of all gun tricks? It's at one time a Junk Gun yet also capable of an evil "assault weapon" killing spree! I know this because Rep. McCarthy says so.

So it does not surprise me that there are evil "assault weapon" double action pump versions; probably chambered in airplane killing terrorist loving .50 BMG!

OH PUH-LEEEEEZ SAVE US DI-FI!!!

Its a movie about a werewolf girl who falls in love with a human. I wonder where I can get the silver 7.62mm rounds they used in the movie...

The movie was originally a book. However they did the movie version of it completely different.

and it was a typical... C+ / B- movie. plot wasn't bad, it just wasn't a very awesome theatrical movie.

and yea about the sks, i noticed that too, but then again in most movies I like to point out the inaccuracies.

I don't know about racking an SKS but with a decent after-market upper and a Tapco trigger (based on the Sig DAK design) the SKS is capable of double action. And file down the sear and then Teflon~Tenifer-Kote® it it'll go full auto. I seen the kit at a gun show. IIRC it was $9.99 for the whole enchilada. :)

That is right up there with the "cocking" sounds evertime they unholster a Glock on Law & Order. My wife still wonders why that drives me nuts.

i love when they constantly rack a weapon, even after its already been cocked. yet no rounds pop out.

or the main charecter will rack the slide on a single action auto, then cock the hammer with his thumb right before he kills the guy.

and once. they were shooting a revolver and had the sounds of empty brass hitting the floor.

The "cocking" or "racking" sound is overused...not just in B-grade movies either. It seems that any time the protagonist or antagonist comes into a room wiht his/her weapon drawn, the stupid "che-chink" sound is used.

Like Mexican standoff (Which would never happen. Anybody with a gun pressed to his head isn't gonna go much talking) and the whole room erupts with ka chink chink cha chunk as an entire room of people unholster weapons.

Nightcrawler has a million dollar idea. He wants to make grips that have a built in MP3 player and speaker. Everytime you move the gun, the MP3 player activates, and it makes noises. So when you lift your 1911, it sounds like an old single action army being cocked, and if you're really being dramatic, you can set it on pump action shotgun.
