When I can wear enough clothes to cover it, I carry my G19 in a Fobus paddle holster - great retention, comfortable, cheap, etc.

I just bought an Uncle Mike's sidekick nylon IWB holster (single plastic clip, no retention band) in size 16 (IIRC). I've seen buddies use this holster and it conceals great. Supposedly, size 16 fits 3¼-3¾ inch barrel medium and large autos - just like my G19.

However, I feel like I'm about to lose the gun every time I get out of my car and especially while riding/dismounting from my motorcycle. Do you guys really feel comfortable carrying like this?

Take a look at the Versa Max II (VMII), MaxCon V, and Ctac. I have used all 3 and like all of them. Brommaland's MaxCon V is my favorite but they are not taking new orders right now. If you try one of these and a GUN belt you will never look back.

I think this feeling is very real, especially when you swing your leg up and over the bike. These holsters are very thin and soft and are not made for a specific firearm, allowing the gun to shift inside the holster. Getting the gun into any soft holster is a real nuisance, too. The clip retention is OK if you hook the clip under a belt.

For something to use until my good holster can be made, I like the High Noon Bare Asset (which is made for a specific firearm) although it is still a soft holster. The "Maverick" sold by Dillon looks good on paper, being made of more substantial material than the Uncle Mike's, but I haven't tried one yet.

When you get sick of fumbling and adjusting your gun, you'll get a quality holster that attaches in two places. My P32 stays put, in an Uncle Mikes, but thats about it. Tried one for my P345, and was constantly adjusting it. Milt Sparks, all the way:D

JD - is that the Watch Six? Is the leather fairly rigid so it will not totally collapse from mere belt pressure?

I have a similarly designed - with the addition of a body shield - holster for a S&W MP9C, the UBG "Canute." :)

I've had some guns come REAL close to getting spit out of their holster on a motorcycle. Hell, I've had wallets and cell phones do the same thing. I've actually gone to a smaller gun in an inside pocket to avoid the problem. For a full sized gun on the waist you are gonna need some kind of retention.

i had the same problem for a little while when I got back into riding motorcycles - i normally carry an opent top IWB holster for my kimber - but seriously - does anyone want a kimber skidding down the pavement should it by some chance hop out of the holster?? nope - i decided i would have to break down and go back to my galco pancake with the retention thumb snap - at least i dont have to worry about it jumping out now - And as far as having a hard object next to my body while riding my bike? Well - hmmm - ill take my chances and keep carrying -

Yes, it a Watch 6. Its very stiff horsehide, all most like kydex. Reholstering is very easy. I would highly recommend this holster to anyone. There is a body shield that totally covers the slide, just cant see in my pic.

I actually have been carrying with one of these >15$ holsters for years. Gone thru a few that have worn thin against my USPc 9. I personally like the ability to shift my pistol around(when I move it). When I get in my car, I can slide it forward a bit on my waist to relieve pressure on the slide(or cylinder with my 642). I can quickly move it to the small of my back if needed. With different pants/shirts, I like it in slightly different positions.Never ridden a bike, so cant attest to that.

I found that this holster conceals way better than any of the deSantis/galco/sparx holstersI have tried, both IWB and OWB. This setup will move slightly during extended movement, but not enough for me to give up its versatility. I dont work for UncleMikes, lol.

I carried in one of those for awhile after 1st getting my CCW. Never again...it is only a slight step up from mexican carry. No security at all, it feels like it is about to fall out because it is. Don Hume is a value brand that offers better holsters.

I've got nothing against Uncle Mikes, they have a lot of decent quality products at a good value. I carried my M9 in a Mikes Kydex belt holster for a year in Afghanistan. No issues with durability or quality. Probably a lot rougher on the finish than a high cost model...but somebody before me thrashed the finish on that M9 anyway.

I agree with those that suggest a quality IWB holster. I also have had IWBs without proper support and thought they would seem to work in a pinch it never feels quite right.
Oddly I've never carried on my motorcycle. I just don't trust the concealment and if I need to take it off for any reason there is no place to securely store it!

I crashed a motorcycle last spring. I wan't hurt, but I did as someone said earlier come down on my Smith & Wesson 39 that I had in an Uncle Mikes # 16 belt slide holser. The gun stayed in the holster, even though the retaining stap was torn almost in half. (Uncle Mikes replaced the strap, no charge.) The pistol suffered a few scratches to the grips.

It was then I decided I wasn't going to carry one of my more expensive guns when I ride a bike anymore. Now I carry a Bulgarian Makarov in a generic amberdextious nylon holster, with a spare magazine carrier built onto the holster.
