**Bought One**Opinions Please (III) Ruger Single Six 22 (I'm a newbie remember..)

OK...Liked the Ruger Bisley - was discontinued! :banghead:

Liked the Ruber Bearcat - didn't realize how small it was! :banghead:

Now, I think I've made a decision...the Ruger Single Six! I have found that it is readily available, comes in a few different barrel lengths and has the look that I want. All I need now is your opinions on it! Same as before...what do you guys think? Is it a good (quality) gun? Does it have good accuracy? Will it last? What do you think would be a good price for a new one? As usual, thanks for your help!!!!!

I told you in the first thread that if you would buy a Single-Six that you could shoot the snot out of it, and that your great-grandkids will still be shooting it 100 years from now.

I haven't changed my opinion.

I have had both blued and stainless Single-Sixes over the years. Both have been great. I presently have a stainless with a 6.5" barrel. When you buy one, either used or new, make sure to do a Poor Boys Trigger Job on it.

Sistema1927, indeed you did!! Thanks (and I should have listened the first time)!!

You'll love it, it's one of the best bargains out there in handguns and will last more than a lifetime. My Single-Sixes are in my "Never Sell" cabinet with my Bearcat.

I found a good deal on a used one about a month ago. I think everybody should have at least one.

I have two Single Sixes. One is a 4 5/8" blued with fiber optic sights that I use to introduce newbies to handguns. The other is a stainless 5 1/2" that I will never, ever sell. It's the one gun that goes to the range with me every single time. It's accurate, cheap to shoot, dead reliable and it pleases me just to look at it. I plink with it, target shoot with it and carry it around my friend's ranch in a good holster. After many thousands of rounds it just shoots better and better.

The ideal accessory, by the way, is a 9 year old boy or girl.

I was just given my grandfathers single six. It was mfg'd in 74 or 76. It was used for coon hunting way back when and shows it. It is a good shooter. Like others have said it will last for a very long time. I can see passing this down to my kids in the next 30 years or so when the time comes.

One of my regrets was that I flipped a mental coin between a used SS Single Six and a P22 and it came down on P22. Both were about the same price. I should have bought the single six or two guns that day. But I said, heck, you already have a single six.

Mine shoots better with WMR than .22lr and I don't shoot it as well as I shoot my semi-autos (P22 excluded). I'd like to blame the revolver, but I'm pretty sure it is the part that pulls the trigger. But, what the hey, the single six is just plain fun to shoot. It goes to the range every time. It is generally the last handgun I shoot, which probably contributes to the lower accuracy. But it is a great way to finish off the day.

My single six ranks up there as one of the best handgun purchases I've made. Bought it used, must've been 11 or 12 years ago, for $150 with a nifty bianchi leather holster (worth $40 by itself). It only had one little mark on it, and a tiny crack on the grip. Came with both cylinders. I like it alot, it shoots great. My wife isn't a gun person at all, but it's her favorite gun. The fact that my wife used to go with me and shoot that thing was worth 10 times what I paid for it.

Owning a Single Six is like owning a 1911, every gun owner should have at least one of each. :)

Single Six

Get ONE;

remove yourself; from the Pain.

Get another; to keep it company

Get ONE now

Reply back to us by MONDAY with outstanding news. :)

Use only "Both Cylinders" and shoot allot

Go to Ruger Site, and get a Holster: $35.00 each

Report Back Soon:cool:

And if you really don't like the smaller grip, heed my advice in your Bearcat thread, and look into putting a Bisley gripframe, etc, on the Single Six. You'll get the exact same gun you were originally looking for (Bisley .22, which is just a Single Six with the Bisley parts -- in fact, Bisleys direct from Ruger still say, "Single Six" on the side of the gun), and you'll get the experience/joy of doing the conversion yourself.

Yosemite/sanson: Folks if he doesn't get one now: Lordy Lordy
Those of us that know; know he needs to get one now.
Tomorrow morning go back and get another.
Get enough ammo to last and then shoot the mess out of his New
Single Sixes.
Keep good notes and tell the Story.
Embellishments are OKAY

everybody should have at least one

Just one? Well, I certainly overshot the mark (but I also have multiple Grandkids & one of the girls is heck-on-wheels with a ree-volver, much to her older brother's chagrin . . . )!

Yes,,,yes...just one for now! More to come I'm sure!!!

Ewayte (thanks for the welcome) - Looks to have been produced between '82 & '83. The .22LR cylinder had never been used. By the looks of the mag cylinder and the gun itself, looks like it had hardly been used. No firing stains on the gun itself and only minimal signs on the mag cylinder. For a newbie eye...looks almost brand new to me!!!

You done good

RobsToy: You've done good:
After todays shooting and enjoying the recent acquisition: Must do a report.
You will need Ammo. Get multiple boxes, and shoot the mess out of it.
It'll take it, and in about 50 years your great-grandchildren will thank you.
Ruger has a holster maker that makes a good holster just for it. $35.00
More Pictures with your Report:)
Thanks for the pictures

Glad to see that you bought a great gun!! Don't ever sell it or you'll just end up buying another to replace it at a higher price, I'm on my third replacement to the original one I bought 20 years ago. :fire: I'm not selling anymore Single-Sixes but I won't say I won't buy any more. :D

My dad passed his on to me. First handgun I ever shot

I found them to be reliable, safe, accurate, inexpensive, and very versatile. I too think everyone should have one. Enjoy!
