My SKS

Looks good! I haven't gotten an SKS yet, but if I do I'd go the same route you did on this one.

Nice gun. I always have liked SKSs. What do you need a bipod for?

That is really nice. I can't bring myself to modify my SKSs. Mine are all original. I bought the scope kit with the replacement cover for the upper receiver (has a built-in scope base)...I can't bring myself to us it. For some reason, I just like the original look for mine. All the same, I can enjoy how your SKS looks.

I added a Tapco T6 stock to mine too. They're nice. Is that an AK mag on a Norinco SKS-M or an after-market?

How accurately does it shoot out to 400 yds? Looks like a decent coyote gun... thoughts?

They are crap at 400 yards. Good coyote gun if you are a good caller and can get them within 150 m.

What's not to like? Mine has the tri-rail and metal ventilated handguard cover. It's a heavy brute.

The Tapco furniture is really first rate. If you were like me the whole project took about an hour of actual work time. The toughest part was screwing the grip in because I had to buy the tool to do it. The tri-rail handguard mount is really a nice piece of work very easily installed. Right now I just have UTG rubber covers on it, but I'll find something to do with it.

Does it hold its zero?

It looks like a Chinese SKS, it that true? I'm not much into scopes on SKS's, but I have been made a believer on the TAPCO stock. I thought they were a gimmick until I tried one,it felt good! Bought the rfile with the stock. It was also Chinese but it was an older Chinese SKS with the machined bolt and the screw in barrel, and the bore was excellent. It also shot quite well. I also have a bunck of SKS's and have no problem with modifying them. The only one I haven't bothered with is a very nice Russian. I also got a Chinese D model, that someone had done a hatchet job on the magwell in order to make a drum fit. I worked on it and made it look halfway decent, but it's still rough, but who cares? I got it for around $200. The rifle hadn't been cleaned, the gas system was stuck, but with a good cleaning, it lturned out to be in good condition.

Mine holds it's zero, so far. It's also co-witnessed.

Mine is a Yugoslavian SKS. I'm really not that into scopes on an SKS either. My most enjoyable shooting was done with another SKS that I used to own, a Chinese one strictly with iron sights, plinking away. With this gun I decided to have some fun and turn it into a zombie killer. But, I do like the red dot more than I thought I would. There is a peep channel below the mount that allows for open sight shooting, but it is admittedly restricted. All I need to do is swap covers and I'm back to open sights. I'll see how the red dot holds out. This is just one of my Walmart specials.

That is sweet. I have a russian which is too goodlooking to be messing with (i don't even shoot it), but you just made me think about buying a descent yugoslavian while they are still affordable and dressing it up with a tapco. Now i know that they are not long range guns but what accuracy can you expect at 100 yds?

I just picked a YUGO sks that was made in 1975 unissued with bayonet and
grenade launcher from a forum member on another site I go to.
When I took it to the range I thought I did pretty good with these old eyes
and the stock sites.
At 100 yds. I got 15 out of 20 at least in the red , the trigger is pretty stiff
and I think that threw me off some.

The best part is that while I have the Yugo dressed up as a zombie killer in the Tapco furniture I'm refinishing the original stocks. There's nothing permanent about installing the Tapco furniture and switching back to the original stock is quite easy. Had switching to the Tapco ruled out going back to the original stocks I really don't think I would have done so.

At a 75 yards (the limit of my range) I'm getting 2 to 3 inch groups with little effort and Wolf ammo. I think I could do considerably better, probably closer to 1.5 inches depending on the ammo.

I bought one to keep stock and ordered a crack stock special for $110 to convert

The only thing wrong with the CSS was a broken tip on the bayonet

I put it in the T-6 anyway and put on one of the bay lug mounted bi-pods
I have a scope mount for a Mosin sniper to put on it

I went a similar route. Norinco SKS, photos show it in two slightly different configurations. I like the holo sight better, but in terms of competition within divisions, I can place higher with the TS200 sight.

This link shows it in action, this is a "posed" session that is pretty close to actual competition. We only had a short time to get this done, so there's some procedural errors that I'm embarrassed about, but you get the idea.
