Hello All. New to the site. Very insightful site. Living in Connecticut. I was intoduced to the site by a good friend. I have a love of all firearms. I have been out of it for awhile. Until a good friend of mine turned the lights back on for me. LOVE THE SITE. Keep up the good work.

Wife of a old poster

My husband (aka Thane) finally talked me into joining THR. I've been interested in shooting since, well, forever, but got into shotgunning in a back 40 kind of way about three years ago. Until this past weekend hadn't fired a shot in two years because my first and greatest love is shotgunning and well, that just seemed to loud to be safe while pregnant. Now that the kid is old enough for me to get some time away I got an afternoon out shooting last Saturday and remembered just how incredibly good it feels.

Hoping to get some good tips on how to get better at it without driving across state lines to visit with the country cousins--that whole routine really cuts down on my shooting time. It's a bit difficult figuring out how ranges and things really work when one is on the outside.

Also am probably gonna be posting quite a bit as I try to figure what kind of gun would be best (affordable) way to work around a bad shoulder (too much judo in my giddy youth). So far I've been using mostly a lightweight 20 gauge single shot that works better than anything else but everyone else who tries it say it kicks like a small mule. Keep wondering if there's a gun out there light enough for the bad shoulder to support but with less a bit less kick.

Off to peruse the shotgun forum now.

(P.S. The nick is not some a military reference, in case anyone was curious--it's a kite reference. :))

I heard of this place from the 4chan /k/ weapons page.
But don't hold that against me.
I am mainly interested in antique guns and black powder weapons. My favorite weapon is a brass-barreled 10 gauge flintlock blunderbuss (pictured here).

I am looking around for a matchlock musket or an early hangonne (reproduction, of course).

I found that this was about the only gun related forum that the net nanny software at my job doesn't recognize and block access too. Apparently, my company thinks that if we read about guns or shooting related subjects at work we will snap and go nuts or some such nonsense.

Anyway, I'm a 33 year old power plant operator in northern CA, 6 and a half year army vet, married with no kids, two dogs, two cats, a horse and a fish.

Inventory as follows:

DPMS AR-15 with M-4gery uper
CZ 527 in .223
Tikka T3 in .270
10-22
Marlin 882 SST
Remington 870
Savage 24v in .357 over 20 ga.
5.5" Buckmark
70 series Combat Commander
H&K USP compact in .40
Air Arms Pro Elite in .22 cal (pigeon killer deluxe)
and a S&W 19-3 6" on the way

Hey y'all. I'm new on the site. Just got a Smith & Wesson M&P 9 a couple of months ago after checking everything out. It was a good choice, thank you very much. My only other gun is a Winchester 94-32 w.s. that I inherited from my dad. (Who got it from my mom's dad as an inheritance as well...) It's a little easier finding ammo for the 9mm...;) Anyway, thanks for letting me join the forum!

Very new

I am a african AMERICAN 43 Yr Old married father of 2 teenage girls and a 8 yr old son, my wife is Disabled stay at home mom, I HAVE NEVER HAD A CONCERN ABOUT GUNS SINCE LEAVING THE USMC IN 1989.
I have just thought my merry little life was just great and those gun crazies at work were just that "crazy". until I talked to a coworker 'Daniel Watkins' a good friend,he just started to make more sense that it was not crazy to BEAR ARMS and to protect my way of life or it was not crazy to change from the rat into the cat, I apologize first. but I thought there was no place to join in a group about guns and the American way and race not be a issue. I have found that I have been welcomed with open arms, I have found out more information about safety/training/practice
and most important a continuing network of "like same minds".
My life has changed and will continue to grow stronger with every purchase of good ammo.....................LOL.

KB in the SLC here...

I'm new to THR, from Salt Lake City, UT. I won't lie to you... every gun I own is designed for use on one species. I don't hunt, unless I have to to survive. I own defensive guns which, thankfully, I have never had to use on anything but paper, tin, and plastic. Strange thing... as CCW permits skyrocket in Utah, aggravated crimes keep declining. Is it just me, or do anti-gun States like CA and NY need to study these stats and learn from them?

New Member ... John Spence

Hi - I joined this forum because it was referenced as a site for info about getting a FFL - C&R. I live in California and hope some one living here could offer a few insights into any tricks or got-chas that those wackos in Sacramento might have up their sleeves.

I am studying the website:
http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/cgi-bin/statquery
to see if I can find any laws preventing me from collecting. I am not doing business,

I only want the C&R to be able to get directly to other collectors/dealers. I collect P38s and Colts.

Hello everybody my name is Earl. Really...Like the tv show. Airwrench is the name of my company which is a small aircraft maintenance shop. I also work for a major airline as a maintenance supervisor. I own a M&P .40, xd .45 Taurus pt92, Taurus 917cs, Springfield 1911 full size, 2 Ruger Mark 2s, and my best friend and hunting buddy the Ruger Super Redhawk .44 9.5 in. with the Liepold scope. I and my son have been shooting steel and ipsc for about 8 months and love it.

New guy here!

New to the forums, not to guns lol. My name's Chris, I'm 20 years old, and live on some land in Central Texas. I was raised in the country so I'm used to having my own shooting range! :D

Been shooting and hunting my whole life. Learned to shoot on a 100 year old single shot bolt action 22LR that was my great grandfathers, it has since been passed on to me.

My current arsenal is as follows:

Unknown single shot bolt action 22LR (the straightest shooting rifle ever!)
Herbert-Schmidt  22LR revolver (was my mothers, for snakes, I kinda stole it lol)
Winchester Model 70 .243 (my brother's but I'm holding onto it for him)
Mossberg 500A 12ga special purpose shotgun
DPMS Panther Lite 16 AR-15

That's it for now. Only 118 more days until I can purchase a pistol! I'm gonna buy a Taurus PT 24/7 in 9mm, most likely the blued version, as I'm not much for bling, and the SS slide is just too flashy for me.

I just stumbled on this forum through a google search and MAN it has a TON of information here! I've already learned a ton just in the few hours I've been on here. Anyway, looking forward to getting to know some of ya!

This forum has defintely augmented my knowledge of firearms as well. Any question I have had has been thoroughly answered. Just make sure you jion the NRA or else you are free loading and cant complain when tyranical firearms restrictions are passed.

Hi all CPTTango here. I have been shooting for 22 years and reloading for 18 years. I spent 8 years in the army. Now I am in school right now (IT network enginering) got to make more money to support my horriable gun and reloading habbit.

I have two kids and plenty of guns. the newest edition was a Beretta Neos 6" with a Tasco 30mm red dot. I love it. I am a die hard remington man and only own one non remington rifle.

hello,
i am new to this page. i am a fan of 1911's and winchester lever actions mostly. recently i have been looking at krags more than usual. i have a few of them in my small but growing collection. most of my items are standard but i also have some custom calibers. currently i am working on a 98 krag in 30-40 improved and a 1911 in 400 cor-bon.

Hey,
I love any Marlin Lever action gun and the S&W revolvers. I came here to ask some questions about Marlins new .308mx, and got some good imfo.

I rode the black horse, no one wanted to ride
I crossed the line, no one wanted to cross.

I have but a few firearms

M1 Garand, the finest battle rifle ever made
M700, to reach out and touch someone
SKS, for the ole lady
CZ-52, gonna sell it

Rebuild the CZ for the ole lady, just to find out she is too small to pull the slide back.
