As we all know...there is more to a story. I will be brief. Compass Bank (branch) offers for $10 you can personalize your Check Card with a picture of your own. The initial criteria...no copyright pictures...can do. So I pull out the Kodak digital and get all artistic. I abide by the file size and type...and this is what I sent.

This is what I received from them...in about 30 minutes! lol....I'm just curious how many of these "new modified" criteria I violated...sigh...and to think I was gonna show off my new card to everyone on the board...with the numbers covered of course! :D

From Compass:

Thank you for choosing a Compass Bank Personalized Check Card.
We regret that we couldn't accept the image you submitted for your Personalized Check Card as it doesn't comply with our image guidelines. Please review the guidelines listed below and follow this link to try again.

blur out that big S&W logo and resubmit :)

I'd say that one, to start with.

ETA: GMTA, tenbase.

I sort of set myself up for those and the ribbings to come... I think the only thing left after excluding all the other "No no's" on the list is to draw a gun...er...0oops that can get a kid expelled now a days!

after reading the criteria I am clueless as to what you could actually have put on it. Your pet maybe, your lawn chair(provided there is no logo on it),
an old rusty trash can maybe???

I doubt you were turned down on account of the S&W logo.

You should ask them for some specifics on what is allowed rather than what is not allowed.

you know, the point of having a pic on your credit card is so the cashier can match it up with the guy holding it who is supposedly you.

and... do you really want the casheir/hotel clerk who has your name, address, phone number, and financial information to know that you have some very nice guns at home?

Violent or other offensive material, including material that could be perceived as violent

Guns are commonly perceived as violent. They make noises that are violent to my ears and some of the cleaning solvents for them are violent to my nose. When shooting into the wee hours of the day, the muzzle flash can significantly wound my night sight.

...yep but then I would be violating that obscene (or is it offensive) portion of rule by having my 'mug' on it.... :D

I have to agree about the S&W logo.

However, with that (modified) image you'll probably be "violating" the rules about:
Material /content demonstrating the views and/or opinions of political groups, religious groups or anti-social or socially unacceptable groups;
People conducting or involving themselves in criminal or illegal activities or otherwise inappropriate behavior;
Culturally or socially sensitive material;
Provocative or derogatory material
Violent or other offensive material, including material that could be perceived as violent;

Based on their regs, you can't have:
-an American Flag (political)
-a picture of your dog (PETA is a political group and sometimes anti-social)
-a photo of your son/daughter in a military uniform (political, possibly violent, and culturally/socially sensitive)
-anything containing a cross, crucifix, or Star of David (religious)
-your karate school trophy (violent)
-a picture of a stalk of corn (ethanol is a political and environmental hot-button issue)
-an image of The Twin Towers (Culturally or socially sensitive)
-the color black (associated with "goth" culture which may be considered anti-social or socially unacceptable, otherwise inappropriate behavior or culturally or socially sensitive)

I think Heinrich Himmler would run a more compliant bank.

That line prety much covers it all don't it?
Try sending the picture upside down and see if they figure it out, and send it during the busy part of the day so they don't have as much time to look at it.

If you REALLY want to stick it to them, you can purchase your checks from a private manufacturer. I can have my checks made through my bank, or independently.

If for you it is a matter of principle, make a stand, and have them made privately. Then, walk in and cash one.

It's basically "put your family photo on your credit card".

I don't know... what if there's only a mommy and no daddy? Or two mommies? Or two daddies? Gestapo Bank may not approve!

It is, after all, their card and they can do as they please.

Phone call. After all, it's your card to spend your money. Make sure they remember that.
A phone call might fix the problem, if you get ahold of someone with sense (iffy, I know)

I am interested to know, as I use Compass bank. I would love a card with my Remington Model 8 on it!

Denied by Compass Bank...because of a pic?

Um, no. YOU were not denied because of a pic. Your PIC was denied because you could not follow directions.

You make it sound like you were denied by Compass Bank when that certainly was not the case, making Compass Bank out to be the bad guy because you used a gun picture when that was not the case.

True Doublenaught...what a newsflash though...a male doesn't read the instruction book before 'putting it all together'...thanks for your thoughts! :D

Why don't you try a picture of yourself shooting one of your guns?

Make sure trademarks are not visible.

Wouldn't really sticking it to them be to move your money elsewhere?

He's talking about a check card. I'm unaware of places that will make custom check cards for another bank. Also, you can bet that neither the teller or the bank is going to care much that you didn't get their checks from them. They probably won't even notice.

Yes, I am a club member as well. I got married so that I would have someone present to read directions when things don't turn out right.
