Well, I've got 600 sitting in my bank account, and with some birthday money I'll be getting next week, I'm going to buy two Russian PSO scopes. So my gun purchases are on hold for a while.

I've got a satin 85 Combat on layaway, should pick it up next week.

I just wish CZ would make a 9mm Compact with ambi-safeties, a "CZ85 Compact" or "PCR- SA"

How do you like the 97B? It looks somewhat great.
Well, it's somewhat large and somewhat heavy, even for a 45, but it is definitely more than somewhat accurate.

This was my first 45 and I had somewhat of a difficult time coming up with a handload recipe that would feed somewhat reliably in it, until I somewhat serendipitously stumbled upon the solution while experimenting with different loads: the 97B has somewhat of a preference for cartridges loaded on the long side, i.e., somewhat closer to 1.270".

The 97B is now somewhat of a tack-driver that feeds my handloads reliably. Shooting it is somewhat of a joy as, aside from its accuracy, recoil is somewhat of a non-issue due to the gun's heft.

In addition, a "fluff and buff" trigger job and mainspring replacement has yielded a somewhat lighter and smoother trigger pull.

Picked up my new P-01 today!!

Snapped a few pics when I got home but won't get to shoot it until Sunday. Man these things really do multiply!!

one more for the club

I found a satin nickel Compact and snatched it up. Beautiful and accurate. All steel, night sights, 14 round mags and built in accuracy. CZ sales must me great because everyone who tries this gun at my range goes and gets one of their own.

Cool!!

:cool:Very cool ANGUSLINCOLN!! I have never seen a satin nickel compact before. I wonder if someone with a Gander Mtn. special matte stainless P-01 will post a pic while we're on some of these alternative finish CZ's.

Thanks ecureed, I asked my dealer to get me one and he was very skeptical about it's availibility. He called CZ anyway and to his amazement, they had 3 available. It seems they only produce satin nickel finished guns at certain times, 50 guns per model (or something like that). So I jumped on it and would have bought 3 if I could have afforded it. I also covet your OD P-01. I tried to get that finish before the satin nickel; my dealer never even heard of it! Do you have any idea if CZ makes a .45 model in OD green? I would be interested in one of those.

About the CZ 97. Mine's an absolute tack-driver with a pretty crisp trigger. The size isn't really much more than the CZ 75, either.

ANGUSLINCOLN, I only know of CZ producing OD 75B's and P-01's. 75B's are only available in .40 and 9mm and the P-01 is a 9mm. If they ever produced a 97B (.45ACP) in OD Green I have never seen or heard of it.

And thanks for your kind comments, as there are lots of folks who think the OD CZ's are absolutely ugly! To me though, they are different and just look like they are ready to go to war. Personal preference thing I guess.

Anyways, this is a great thread, lets keep it going!

:DAll those cz's look great! I new to them (cz-82) But love it too. Hope my Kahr
gets to that level .want to get a cz-100 like the looks.

Range report on my new CZ-75B (See post #2)
Well we're now past the initial break in phase (200 rounds) of .40 S&W on this baby and I have to say it's been just amazing so far. This gun fits me like it was custom made, the trigger is great, and even without using the sights I was able to make a spinner target dance at 30 ft. I've tried 5 different types of ammo and it just didn't care what I ran through it. My slide stop is a pain in the backside to re-insert after cleaning but other than that takedown and cleanup is easy. I just can't say enough about how happy I am with this gun!

So has anyone ever had just a complete lemon CZ? I know everyone messes up once in a while but I swear I've never heard a "complete horror" story yet!

Regarding the CZ-97B:

I have stubby fingers and I suppose you could call my hands "small" as a result - but I couldn't tell much of a difference between a 75B and a 97B, handling both. All this time I've been led to believe that the 97B grip is on par with a Desert Eagle. :p

The 75 B will restore your faith in the .40 S&W! If you've given up on getting exceptional accuracy from the round, CZ is the CZolution!

As far as carry pistols, how you gonna beat the P-01. I tried. Did head to head testing with a SIG P-228 that I always believed was about the ultimate compromise in a carry pistol. P-01, just as reliable and a bit more accurate!;)

Does the 97B have an ambi safety or is one available? Is it double or single stack?
The 97B does not come from the factory with an ambidextrous safety, and I am not sure if an aftermarket one is available.

The 97B utilizes a double stack magazine.

CZ 97 size fallacies

I dislike hearing the internet rumors regarding how "large" the 97 is. As stated previously, a lot of people will tell you that the 97's grip size is about that of the IMI Desert Eagle. In reality, it's hardly larger than the 75. Both the 97 and the 75 fit my hands great.

Doesn't hurt that the CZ 97 is unbelievably accurate.

Redman900,
I started out with a cz75. Loved the gun, gathered a few 52s and then came the 82. It has since become my favorite. All shoot well, but there is just someting about that 82. It isn't fit; it isn't finish; it's just fun.

Once you feed one, they reproduce.

Yes. CZ 70. First off, wouldn't feed a full magazine (load it minus one, then). Then it broke the firing pin. Now the trigger spring.
Still intend on getting another CZ... the 83 and some version of the 75. The CZ 70... I don't know why it's had so many problems. Guess it's just an old pistol with some worn-out parts, not well-cared for by previous owners. A lot of fun while it was working, though.

Is it ME or is it the CZ???

I just had the best night of pistol shooting of my life so far. Here's the crown jewel (shot towards the end of the session) where I put 10 rounds into the target from 50 ft away. Two hand slow fire.

Is a CZ 75B accurate in .40 S&W? Ummm... YUP!!!
