Black Bear Attack - Wash State.

Juggle a hand grenade long enough and the pin is likely gonna slip out. I sure wouldn't want to be there when it happens.

Kinda scary. I just chased a bear out of my yard the other day--a nice 400+ lb PA black bear. I yelled at him to git, and he first gave me one of those 'hey kid, why don't you go play in traffic looks.' But getting a little louder and waving arms put the run on him. He tried to circle back, but I was a little ahead of him on that one. Still, rather than go back to the woods he opted to venture towards other yards in search of an easy meal in a garbage can. Think I'm going to take my garbage can hunting with me when I go out for bear... :banghead:

I've come across one "predatory" black bear in CA. At least, he was clearly stalking a backpacker ahead of me on the trail. No attack, though; he scurried off when we all started yelling and shouting. Heard later that the same bear had figured out that if you scared a backpacker, they dropped their packs, which had a bunch of neat food.

I thought of heading up there with a bear tag in the Fall, and just leaving a couple of backpacks on the ground.... I don't think it's baiting if there's no food, is it?

Back on topic, I have been witness or near witness to several black bear attacks, either mothers defending cubs or bears protecting food. Most didn't end up with direct contact/injury, but that was more luck than skill.

Those people are nuts.

That's also illegal in NJ . . . one of the nanny state laws that actually makes sense (not feeding bears as those people are - look on the ground looks like cracker jacks.)

Hey guys, my wife (a bear lover) looked at these photos and she thinks they are cut and paste jobs.......After she told me that, I looked at them again. They look well done, but look close at the one of the guy sitting in the lounge chair petting the bear with his right hand. If you look close enough, you will notice the hand is not near the bear........I think we've been had boys...
