I've been comparing Eotech versus the Aimpoints, and decided to go with the Aimpoint, particularly the 2 MOA models. In looking over the choices, I compared the M4 versus the ML3, and just wanted to ensure that I wasn't overlooking something here. At the local gun shop, their pricing for the M4 was about $225 or so higher than the ML3. While the M4 has it's own mount, even pricing in the Larue for the ML3 would still leave a significant difference in price between the two models in cash out the door. My understanding is that the M4 has longer battery life and uses the AA batteries. Other than that, I don't see what else the M4 would offer me. I understand about the night vision capability, and the greater submersibility for the M4, but that wouldn't mean much for the anticipated use that I would be giving it.

Anything important that I'm missing here?

Thanks,

The Aimpoint M4 offers three things (two of which you already heard), a built in mount that works at normal AR height and as a low mount for Piston ARs and other rifles, AA batteries with a longer battery life (80,000 hrs vs 50,000 hrs), and the Comp M4 has the night vision modes which are removed from the Aimpoint ML series.

The Comp M4 also almost always comes with a Killflash, but that doesn't really matter that much.

Thanks for the information! From what you've said, it doesn't sound like there's a real compelling advantage for me to go with the M4 over the ML3. It seems like the biggest bang for the buck will be the ML3, with the savings going to buy ammunition or apply it towards training. :D
