What's everybody's favorite .40 caliber pistol?

I like my Springfield XD .40. I used it in PPC competition and did very well. I shot a S&W M&P .40 once and found it similar to the XD but cost more.

I don't have one~! Prior to this posting I have owned a G-23, G-27, and
a SIGARMS P229. The G-23 and the P-229 were dumped before they were
a year old; and the G-27 only lasted 'bout 2.5 years. I returned to using
.45 ACP pistols, and have NEVER looked back~!:uhoh:;)

I don't have a favorite .40 caliber pistol, because I don't own any. I'm considering a G23, because I can still use the same holsters I have for my G19.

Presently, I only have one....It's totally reliable, but not the tack-driver like some of the others. I just like the "fast-action" feature...It was my winter-carry for awhile (switched to Officer's), but now regulated to range-work & vehicle back-up. :) Oh, yes; it's a DAEWOO~

I have a Sig P-229 which has been a great gun for the last 6 years.
But I recently purchased a 2nd gen GLOCK 17 -
It kicks the Sigs ass. (for me at least)

Best .40 caliber

For the money....Ruger p-94
Middle of road ....Glock 22
High end............H&K USPc ;)
Own(ed) all three... all are exceptional weapons

Of the dozen or so 40S&W-chambered pistols I own, I'll have to say my favourite would be a toss-up between the CZ 75B and the XD-40 Tactical. Both are equally superbly accurate and reliable, and fit my hand like a glove.

believe it or not my favorite is an old BP trade in S&W 4006

It is one of the two the most accurate guns I have ever owned

It's one of the rare and elusive ESP project guns that does not need to be aimed, it can read my mind and put the bullets where I want them

If I were going to get a .40

I would get an M&P

They were designed around the cartridge....not redesigned from a 9mm

I've sold all my 40 calibers in the past few months. expensive ammo, and not as much fun to handload as 45acp. I'll never own another 40.

my favorite was a sig2340 that I couldn't find a buyer for. I got it from a gun shop for $450 new, shot about 200 rounds through it, then listed it for $450. NOBODY even considered it. I thought I had a steal when I got it for $450 new. I eventually sold it off to my brother for $400, who owned no firearms and has limited knowledge of them. "I just want something better than a baseball bat if someone breaks in"

all I had to do was tell him "lots of police carry 40 caliber" and he instantly thought it was the best gun in the world. I wonder why he doesn't drive a crown victoria.

SIG P-226 is an excellent platform for the .40 S&W (in my view, the very best).

I also like my Beretta 96, though the 226 is more accurate.

I used to carry a Glock 23 on occasion, a worthy pistol, but Glocks just aren't for me.

Don't shoot much .40 anymore, though ... as davinci noted, too expensive and just not that much fun.

I recently got a M&P .40 compact and I really love it so far. It fits my hand perfectly and I could shoot it fairly accurately from the very first magazine I shot. It also looks better than XDs and Glocks, in my opinion. If it passes my reliability test it will be my new CCW.

Huh, you ask what's everybody's favorite .40 caliber pistol is and you get anti .40 cailber replies....
It makes me wonder why they even clicked on this thread.:scrutiny:

Anyway, my favorite is the CZ 75B SA....

So was the Sig 229, if you remember... Sig 229 is the best .40 pistol hands down! And if you want to add a little spice, you can get the .357SIG barrel and have two guns in one. That's how mine is!

I hate to change the subject but I noticed my compact M&P 40 has a 40/357 Sig magazine. Does this mean I can just swap out my 40 barrel for a .357 Sig barrel and I can shoot .357 sig? do I need to swap the recoil spring too?
