Walther PPS

So far we have a handful of people who own a P22 and know of people that own them. So that makes them a big seller for Walther I guess.

A little off topic, but I own a P22, a PPK and a P99c. The P22 is not in any way shape or form in the same class of build quality the other Walthers are. Not saying the PPS is poor, but only that Walther is capable of producing, lets say.., lesser quality at times.

The Wife has been on a single stack tangent of late. Oddly, she thinks her Springer Micro Compact is 'too heavy' and had been considering a M&P Compact in 9mm. Being the dutiful husband, I don't point out fallacies to her. I did, however, show her the PPS online which got her interest up, especially when she realized it was about the same size as a S&W J frame. She suggested we go see one and if possible, put it in her hands on the range. The shop didn't have a mule available, but she's convinced that it'll be her next acquisition. She's asked for a First Edition for Christmas.

As for me, yes, I have to say it's not the most beautiful tool in the box, but I've been seeing more favorable reports on performance than negative. I'm also of an age where I'm smart enough to do what she asks without verbally questioning her.

It's what she wants- it's what she'll get.

Regards,
Rabbit.

P-22

P-22's sell very well around here. I don't know where some of these
comments come from. A very large number of people buy them that
wouldn't even normally think of a Walther. They are not the same
kind of fit and finish as by PPKS or PPK. So what? The vast majority of them
work very well, and cost about half as much. The gun was designed to
fill a particular niche. I know that these are quality, fun .22's, great
plinkers and field guns for a very reasonable price. Every gunstore in the
area keeps at least one in stock at all times.

I can't offer any first hand opinions on the gun since it hasn't been approved here in cali, but I must say I'm confused.

The PPS was designed to be a carry piece. As anyone who carries can tell you, the thinner a pistol is, the easier it is to conceal. Thats the point.

As far as the mag release, if you own a P99, its the same thing. Same with many Hks. If anything there's an argument that this style is better since it doesn't require a change in grip to reload.

At the end of the day, however all this stuff pales in comparison to who the gun shoots. From every report I've heard this thing is a tack driver and very soft on recoil for a gun of its size. I have a feeling that walther knew what it was doing here.

walther always knows best......
I used to be sorta resistence to the S&W input, however it seems to be turning out to be a good joint venture.
