I carry a Bersa Thunder .380 in an DeSantis IWB holster which has a pocket for an extra mag. I also have a pocket holster but it doesn't work well for me I think my pockets are too big and the holster and gun comes out.

Lonestar,
Nice P232, I have the same gun, but do you really use it for pocket carry? It is way to big for my pockets, unless I'm wearing cargo pants. I believe the P232 is probably the finest 380 pistol made.
Take Care

...

Yep, front left pocket with just regular Levis, cross draw, being a right-hand shooter, in an Uncle Mikes IWB # 1 with T-shirt out, or light shirt. Same for my EMP 9mm. Granted, the grips are not down in the pocket, but flush.

Very comfy, no paint what so ever.

This thread brings up an important question for me... What brand of "business casual" pants has the deepest front pockets?

I currently wear Wrangler Riatas when dressed in business casual. However, when I sit down, the butt of the grip on my Colt Cobra is sometimes slightly visible. That's not good!

My Colt rides in a Desantis Nemesis pocket holster. It works great when standing, walking, etc. I just have to be careful when sitting.

Has anyone had a similar experience? What brand of pants might be better? Cargo pants are not an option.

Texas Colt, I find that pleated dockers have nice deep heavy pockets and the pleats also work well to cover up any printing........that what I wear in the office mon-thursday wrangler carpenter jeans on friday

Thanks J.

I reckon I should have mentioned that being a lean, tall Texan makes it a little more difficult. I need either a 31x36 or 32x36 size and Dockers doesn't even make 'em! :banghead:

This is the one I find myself carrying all the time... In Texas, during summer, it gets hot. There is a difference to me between CHL weapon and SD, HD, SHTF weapons... I carry a North american Arms .22 and neck knife, the .25 pictured, a knife in my back pocket, a boot knife and knife disguissed as a pen... I never have to worry about "printing" or anything because the guns are so small and all of the other weapons are reasonably "hidden" and most people don't freak out when they see a knife anyway...

If it is cooler weather, I strap on my Glock or my .45... but unless it is cold, I have a hard time concealing anything bigger than the .25 and .22

I stole the picture from gunbroker... :) But I have one just like it.

Since a few are wondering how some of us can pocket carry a J-frame, this is how I do it. I wear Wrangler jeans exclusively, even in the summer I rarely wear shorts, I just don't really care for shorts, but I don't see why it wouldn't work with shorts as long as they are well constructed. Using an Uncle Mike's IWB holster clipped to my right front pocket with an untucked t-shirt conceals just fine for me, and it is also fairly comfortable unless I am sitting for long periods. If I am sitting for long periods, then I'll appendix carry mostly, but sometimes I'll carry crossdraw.

Here is my S&W M60 carried as described. The slight bulge in the watch pocket is my speedloader, it fits perfectly in there, and it seems to help keep the gun from shifting in the pocket.

Here I have simply pulled my shirt down to cover it up. As you can see, it basically disappears. Dark colors, like the black t-shirt I am wearing, or patterned shirts aid with concealment.

my method for pocket-carrying the J-frame:

M1-shooter: clever idea. Since I very seldom wear jeans, I usually pocket-carry my NAA .22 Mag mini in that case.

Normally, I'll wear docker-style pleated front pants. With an Uncle Mike's size 3 pocket holster, I can drop the J-frame down into my right front pocket and it is undetectable. Only if I squat or sit down do I have to be somewhat careful. Most people aren't looking at your pockets anyway or at least they shouldn't be!:D

M1 Shooter,
If that works for you than thats all that is important. The only time my pocket gun becomes primary is when I have to wear a tucked in shirt. If I can wear something untucked than I will have my G23 with 16 rounds of 40 cal. then the pocket gun usually becomes secondary. This is a good discussion with a lot of different ideas.
For the poster above with the Sundance. Have you actually shot that thing? My dad had one, think he paid $30 for it and it was a jamb o matic. Hope you have and that it works for you.

My main problem with pocket carry is, I have yet to find anything that feels right and it makes me a lot more self conscious. Even my Baby Browning or Seecamp feel like they are standing right out, even though I know they probably arent. I find it easier to carry a P229 or Combat Commander IWB, than a J frame or P230 in my pocket. I also find that its harder to get to whatever's in my pocket, especially if I'm sitting, and I can actually get to my Seecamp in its Smart Carry easier than if its in my pocket.

Something else that tends to make me shy from it is what I call "Skoal Ring" syndrome. My buddy has always carried his Walther TPH in a small pocket holster in his right front pocket. It doesnt take long for the TPH "ring" to start to show up in the pants he wears a lot. Anyone else who carries this way on a daily basis ever notice this?

The other issue I have is, I usually dont have a free pocket. I got to much other junk on me to dedicate a pocket to a gun. :)

I understand we all have different dress codes and situations and we need to adapt what works best for us as individuals. I'm not a "Dockers" type person, and where I work, they probably wouldnt last a week. The only pleats I see are on my wifes skirts. :)

I do own and occasionally use a couple of 642's and a few other J frames. Mostly they either ride in an ankle holster or outer coat pocket in cold weather. I find them a little to big to fit my pants pockets, as they usually wont go completely in.

Speaking of coat pocket carry, does anyone know of a pocket holster made specifically for that type carry? The standard pocket holsters dont work very well, as they position the gun wrong, especially for the draw. It would be nice to have a holster for my jacket or fleece that helps distribute the weight and position the grip so its in the right place when I reach for it.

I know you are a Sig man. Have you every checked out the Sig Tac jackets with the velcro pouches? I wear one in the winter and find that it does the job nicely.

What about this antique I saw today on GA.

To be fair, its not a pocket gun, its a palm gun, but I believe it'll fit in your pocket just fine.
