Went to a gun show in Athens Ohio today. I can't believe the prices on everything. I didn't see any deals today, or for that fact the last couple of gun shows I went to.

That's been the case in this area too. I live on the Oklahoma, Arkansas border. I went to the Tulsa gun show a few weeks back. I bought a new bearcat for $333.00, the best price I found in 2 months of looking. They had a couple stainless security six's for $345.00. There was very little reloading stuff. I could buy powder & primers for the same price or cheaper at my local gun shop. There's one coming up in a couple weeks in Ft. Smith. I still like going to look, and you never know, there could be that guy walking around with that titanium 7-08 I've been wanting.

The most I can take is a gun show every 2 or 3 years. The prices aren't that good and I can see just as much stuff at better prices on the internet and in gun stores and I don't have to pay an admission fee.

True, but sometimes gun shows are worth it for the amusement factor. I get some exercise, get to manhandle some guns, and get a few laughs out of it. A movie ticket is almost $10, and the guns I see there are fake.

Gun shows only when I need powder or primers, and I'm pretty well stocked right now. Online is the way to go for all other non-gun items. It may involve shipping costs, but that's offset by no sales tax.

I can buy powder and primers cheaper online than at the gun show I went to. There was only one person that had reloading supplies and he was high, and so were his components.:D I didn't see any presses, powder measures or other reloading tools.
Gun shows are for suckas.
I'm starting to think your right. Like strat81 said, it's cheap entertainment at best.

Went to a gunshow in LR, AR Sat the 3rd. No reloading supplies in the whole show. What a waste. Glad I don't go often!

I hit the Wanenmachers show in Tulsa last month...all I can say is WOW. 11 acres of gunshow...I spent all day walking around...I think I covered at least 10 miles...

Picked up a few things, some 6.5x55 swede brass, wound up with 225 pieces of R-P brass for about $25...

snagged a couple of blades I've wanted and was glad for the opportunity to check them over rather than take whatever one showed up in the mail...was worth the extra $5.

Still kicking myself about passing over a Norinco 1911 with match barrel and custom trigger for $400 private sale.

I'll be back in the spring.

What really get's me is the attitude of many of the sellers. Rude and Angry. Add that to the OUTRAGEOUS prices for everything, I'd rather save the $6 to park and the $12 admission and shop online. No more shows for me.

Gun Shows are like pawn shops or used guns, cars or most anything for that matter. It is a buyer beware market. Deals can be had over priced is common to out right rip offs. Know your product and prices, don't make impulse purchases and you can do OK. We have found some very good deals at Gun shows. The wife just recently bought a nib Taurus Model 63 in stainless for $100 less than blue at a local retailer. 270 brass for 6 cents apiece and am shooting some 41 Mag lead that was $30 a thousand. BTW so far the 63 is a great little toy.

I go to the larger shows in the area. I've gotten the best deals on reloading components and equipment at shows, but it's very much hit or miss. At the last show I found a guy selling some odd lots of bullets and paid $15 for 290 230gr FMJ 45acp, which I added to my collection of 45acp bullets. A couple shows before I bought out a guy's table of 124gr JHP 9mm (~800 rnds) at $0.05 ea.
I've picked up NIB dies, my scales, tumbling media, some brass, and whatever guys have they are getting rid of that is priced to sell. It might not be good for match grade ammo, but I need blasting components more than anything.

There's one dealer (Wolf's Den) who shows up with fair prices on many of his components. Usually get a few things from him.

I find it's pretty hard to find deals on guns though. A lot of people think pretty highly of their well used stuff, and few of the dealers couldn't pass a lie detector test of anything on their table as much out of habit as a desire to peddle their crap.

Gun shows in my area are getting worse on prices too. The really cool stuff is long gone like the guy that would build a Sharps rifle complete order today blue tonight pick up on sunday(unpopular at the time due to lack of known sharps cartrige sources of the day)and another guy that had allot of mauser actions built to various calibures with various barrels(unpopular at the time as custom rifles were not really popular around here) one could be had from either dealer for about $500 on the low side in the early 90's. Even Georgia arms is through the roof. I saw R.I.A gi pistols at the last show topping $500 I can pick them up online for $400 or so easy less if I look hard. I go to look for the average joe walking around with somthing I might want or a dealer with used guns but nothing more as I can do better else were.

Read this and thought, "Yeah! Thats why I don't go so often!" :D
