Best TV Gunfights?

Alias had some good gun fights. Can't beat a hot chick firing a weapon.

Let's see....

La Femme Nikita had some cool weapons and gun scenes too.

Apparently, I'm not watching enough tv - I haven't heard of half the stuff you guys are naming. Firefly? I get my gun fights from the History Channel and the Military Channel, though, but they don't count I guess.

Edit - oh yeah, La Femme Nikita, okay, that's a good one.

sm, Columbo didn't even carry a gun.
TV Gunfight --- Magnum P.I., not really a gunfight, but Magnum shoots a unarmed ) spy who blew up his buddy Mac. Out of character for Magnum but a neat TV moment. Also Homicide Life on the Streets, shoot-out in the squad room when suspect pulls a gun.

New Shows?
Heck if I know.

My '79 model 13" TV with rabbit ears , one manually set channels, volume , etc (before remote) did not survive the last move.
Mostly used to watch old movies and educational VHS tapes on VCR.
So I have not personally owned a TV in I forget how many years.

Back when I was married, the entertainment deal was opened up from time to time to watch a old movie or something. It stayed closed more than open.
Stepson used his TV, in his room, mostly old re-runs or movies he wanted to rent.

Matlock.
That is the show I was trying to think of earlier with Andy Griffith, wife used to watch him from time to time if the mood struck...Lawyer show...
Another one that could think and access...

Since I've only seen it on TV I'm gonna say the Kevin Costner, Robert Duval movie Open Range.

The gunfight at the end was freakin' great. Even with totally unreal stuff like blowing people back 10' when shot with a SXS Shotgun thru thick wooden walls. Don't matter - sheer excitement.

My favorite part? The beginning of the fight when Costner and Duval are walking up to the Bad Guy and his cronies. Costner starts walking toward them and asks while on the move of the hired gun, "are you the one who shot my friend?". The guy barely has time to answer when without missing a lick or a step and cool as a cucumber Costner pulls out his gun and puts a bullet dead center and right above the bridge of the gunny's nose droppin' him like a rock. Man that was cool.

I don't think anyone has mentioned Hawaii Five O it often had magical gun play in which the bad guy was never killed he was always hit "just right" and the shot from a snubbie always dead on target without fail often without even aiming.

Book em Danno.:neener:

The Getaway - the original - in the hotel. The momentary lull when McQueen runs into and meets eyes with the mob guys is priceless.

Callie Duquesne watch

I catch the show infrequently here in the UK, but did notice she seems to have upgraded from a S&W 3913/Ladysmith to some sort of .45. Seems to be more authentically comfortable with it than her colleagues. She rocks, tho!
Cheers, TF

CRIME STORY: "Set in 1960s Chicago and Las Vegas in which the police force wage an uncompromising war on the Mob. Chicago police lieutenant Mike Torello wages an epic battle against organized crime in Michael Mann's arresting combination of cops and robbers, prime time soap, and film noir. Like Eliot Ness and the Untouchables, Torello and his Major Crimes Unit (MCU) have a formidable opponent..."

In one epsoode, one of the cops had a BAR and lit-up a bad guy in a casino elevator after the door closes! All the other characters had plain-jane 1911s, or Colt wheel guns.

Firefly gets a +1 for me, every time
as for the best firefight on TV, my first thought would be a1980-90's movie with michael Gross on the 1986 FBI Miami shootout. The firefight takes up the last half hour of the movie, and very viscerally (for made for TV) showed just how out-gunned those agents were.

Best gun fight that never happened on a tv show...NYPD Blue..when knocking on the door of a perp andy says:"open up,or I'll throw a shot through the door."I love that line.

not sure if it's been posted yet, but i'm confident there hasn't been a more intense, realistic, graphic, protracted gun battle on the tube since the post-bank-robbery melee in "Heat". AND they had galils !!
but that's not an actual TV show, so i'm gonna say ANY old detective show where the guy with the snub-nose .38 took out the guys with the machine guns !!

Nobody has mentioned the Unit? What's the deal with that? Dark Side of the Moon was pretty much the best TV gunfight ever. .50 BMG bolt action long range shooting against an M2HB, US Army using M4s, M16s, M203s, M240s and other assorted arms against attacking terrorists charging them with AKs. Night attack, defenders throwing up flares to illuminate area. Really good effects. I'm pretty sure the episode alone had a thread dedicated to it.

The best gunfight scene EVER was from Police Squad when Frank Drebin and the perp were shooting it out from about 3 feet apart. Then when they both run dry they begin throwing revolvers at each other.

Nope,ClickClickD'oh, you're not the only one to watch "3rd Watch" it did have some excellent fire fights in it. Sully on the school bus in the garage/ work yard & the young officer who plants the round between the eyes of the oppo that took the EMS worker hostage.....and quite a few other good ones!
As far as "The Unit" goes how about the take down of the airliner in episode 1 or the stand-off/ duel w/ the sniper in the Central American town. This show has also had some good ones in it. Anybody remember "The Agency" & "Raines" they had a couple of good shoot-outs also......

Planet Terror, purely because of its ridiculous exaggeration and unbelievability. I mean come on, the guy must have fired at least 50 rounds from his revolver without reloading once. And The chick had an M203/M16 attached to her leg that shot fire balls when a grenade was launched.

Recent three-parter on South Park .. when the bad imagination creeps got loose, they wiped out about three dozen characters, mostly with full auto weapons .. best show on TV

---

when they kick at your front door,
how you gonna come?
with your hands on your head
or on the trigger of your gun?
