A nine (or more) inch barrel for a CZ52....what do ya think?
Make a really fast round even faster?...How much?
Better for hunting?
Would you like one?
I would.

Oh no, I mean as a concept. There are none made as far as I know and I am not even sure if it could be put in the slide if it was that long.
I just figure that if it could fit, then it shouldn't cost much more than the threaded barrels of basically normal lenght FAC used to sell for $75 a few years back.

Seems like it would be a fun addition to the CZ, especially for somthing like the .223 Timbs made for the CZ52s.
Also, I guess with reloading people could experiment with heavier bullets and slower burning powders for hunting rounds like 100 grain soft points.

Try adding just an inch or so to the barrel length. I think you'll get plenty out of that. I am not terribly sure what you would want the extra velocity for. There are faster handgun rounds in other calibers for target shooting (you can get over 1600fps out of the same barrel length in some 10mm loads) while it doesn't seam to be terribly useful as a penetrator in circumstances where the higher velocity would be necessary.

The highest velocity pistol load that I've ever heard of is the 9x25 dillon, a necked down 10mm round that achieves 2100 FPS from a 6 inch barrel using 90 grain bullets.

The CZ52 is fun for many types of people, but one thing it is, is it is a poor man's magnum. I bet a new manufactured barrel for it in a longer length would cost a fraction of what a 10mm handgun would cost.
Besides, imagine pulling out that wierd long barrelled CZ at the range. Imagine the stares. :D

Considering what it'll cost you to have a 9 inch barrel put in, the gun is no longer a poor mans gun. In any case, I stand by my first statement, that 1 inch, an inch and a half at the most in extra barrel length is all you need. None the less, it'd be fun to see and at least the balance might be pretty cool.

If they were made in bulk like the FAC aftermarket barrels, then they could be about the same $75-$100 price I would think. For a $150 CZ52 and $100 for the 9 inch barrel, it would still be a cheap gun IMO.

I think your idea of an extra inch or inch and a half is a good one too and the threaded barrels FAC made had that extra half inch or so, so I know at least some extension would be able to fit when putting it in.

I wonder, is it possible to make a threaded barrel and screw on the extension? I doubt it would be as accurate, but one may still get the extra speed that way.
