Why even ask?

Yeah I agree...If you don't want people to know what state you are in thats all fine and dandy...But don't go asking legal questions if you dont.

I'd imagine that some people that don't have it there just forgot to fill in that blank.

Then of course there are the people who are so arrogant/clueless that they can't grasp the idea that jsut because something is illegal where they live it is perfectly legal and accepted somewhere else in this great country.

I don't really ascribe any credibility to someone's opinion on CCW, hunting or legal issues when we cannot ascertain where they live and their bio or previous posts don't support any experience ...

'Course, I also tend to get bothered when I see a poster from New York City, Illinois or Southern California chime in to a post concerning concealed carry or laws in a free state ...

Some folks are just paraniod and won't disclose the location they reside in.

El Tejon said exactly what I was going to say. It doesn't matter what state the original poster is, someone will explain Texas law on the subject.

If one is going to ask questions about legality, availability, practicality, or any other "ity" that that varies with local, one should ensure they list the locale in question.

I heard in Texas you can shoot bag boys for putting the bread under the milk if it's after sunset.

Some people may not realize the majority of firearms related laws are state laws and not federal.

Some of us are allowed to openly carry, unlike Texas

I grew up/lived in SoCal most of my life... now live in Texas... and all but two ways the concealed carry law in California is FAR better than the law in Texas. Texans put up with all sorts of absurd restrictions to how and when they can carry.

The two ways: may issue and specific weapons on the license. Other than that the CA CCW license is far more useful than the TX CHL.

To the OP: I agree it's silly but I think it's a sign that people need more education. They don't realize just how bad things are and figure there's a single simple answer.

i put my state in my name. what reason is there to put it anywhere else?

If I am to ask a question about laws in the state I live in which is Pennsylvania, then I will say that I live in pennsylvania. But since everyone seems to like it in my profile I will put it there.

Now why would chiming in by a New Yorker bother you? New York permits concealed carry, but then I guess you were unaware of that living in or around Washington State. As a matter of fact, many counties in New York make it relatively easy to obtain a concealed carry permit, others do not, and some make it almost impossible. Still though I cannot understand why someone from New York, or Illinois or any other state would upset you by joining a thread. Some people, from those restrictive states such as New York or Illinois, actually may be much more well versed in the right to carry in your own state than are you, or at least fairly well versed in CCW rules of other states. So why would that bother you? Even if they are not well versed, why should they not chime in as you call it. They have every right to join the discussion just as I have done so long as they follow the etiquette of the High Road as opposed to the guy who made the following offensive and less than High Road remark:

I think it is offensive stuff like that that should have High Road members getting upset, and that should have moderators doing their jobs.

Now back to the original point. I agree, if someone wants to ask a question about gun laws in their state or locality, then they should include information of the place they are asking about just to keep the discussion on track and to be respectful of others.

I didn't read the whole thread but I can tell ya it is pretty common, that and the link but no story or story but no link.
When called on it they always say but,but, the copyright law says you can't

RKL yup! like open carry in AZ or lane splitting in CA, open carry in nat forest in CA is legal @ yer campsite while even ccw carry with yer permit in TN nat forest aint!

Totally agree! Another pet peave. If you have an opinion why not back it up with your name!!

If I was thin skinned I'd keep my location private as well. Things like "you'd have to be a moron to still live in the state of XYZ", "who in their right mind would chose to live in XYZ", "people from the state of XYZ need to learn what it's like to live in the free world" get old after a while.

I hate most of the gun laws in MA too but I was born and raised here. The fact that I've chosen to stay here to be near family doesn't mean I'm any less of a gun owner or 2A supporter though.
