You could check dogster and see how many dogs have the name. We looked for something different. benelli is a good choice for a hunter. Patton or willie, Just a few thoughts. Patrick Marley was a black lab named after bob, JC is the new lab, after johnny cash, the pup in black.

I name my pets after mountains and mountain trails. Lots of boys names, not many girls, but they are there if you look hard enough.

I'll vote for bullet for a male dogs name when it comes to guns. Annie Oakley for females, or Norma.

This is Mikhail Kalishnikov E***. Seriously, my wife named the little furball for her AK, and he is now the biggest cat we have.
The new dog is Skip, but I should have called him Bob.....for Bob Barker.

My German Shepherd was already named when we got her or I would have named her Mauser or Schmeiser. MG42 would have sounded kind of wierd.

I wanted to name my other dog Snots, in honor of Randy Quaid's dog in Christmas Vacation but the Head of the Naming Committee/CFO/CEO/COO wouldn't go for it.

I got this one from some of the goofballs at the rifle range, so I guess it counts as "gun-related". It's a true classic from the late 70's as well.

$HITHEAD !!!

How about Ceska Zbrojovka ;)
Kahr
Mossberg (Mossy for short)
Heckler
Garand
Maxim
Chauchat- for a French Poodle :neener:
Browning- for a Choc. Lab, or just a brown dog.

Lady Smith

...baying this small baby fox in the back yard. The fox was not impressed with all of the barking :neener:

My granddad used to call us kids buckshot when we were little

My Grandfather called me buckshot and my younger brother fineshot. I'd name a couple of dogs that if I had a large one and a small one.

Our Australian Shepard/Collie mix is "Browning Hi Power" but is called "Brownie."

The cat is "Walther PPK" (valtuh peh peh kah) and called simply Walther. He thinks he's a pistol

Thanks for all the replys. This has turned into a great thread!
I haven't been on all day because of work, but I'd like to get a
German Shepherd or a mix Shepherd. What i need in a dog besides
being my friend is one that is a good alarm when someone is lurking about
that shouldn't be there.

I recall a B-24 squadron in World War 2 had a dog mascot named Tracer. Always thought that was a cool name for a dog.
