Is brass magnetic? I know of a place where there is TONS of it but I'm trying to avoid picking them all up by hand.
Any suggestions for fast pick up?

Hire small children.

That is the ultimate solution. I have a friend that had his grandchildren dig "mine" a 10'X15'X8' addition to his basement. He got them some hardhats, and hid some change in the dirt every so often, and they had the addition dug in about 2 months, just working when he was there to supervise. Only problem he had was a place to constantly dispose of the dirt.

figure out someway to con some small kids and you are in the money

If there is that much Brass laying around use a grass rake. (the wide flexible ones) Once you get them home run a big magnet over the lot and remove the ferrous cases.

I wish there was a brass magnet....

I know the idea of using small children was probably in jest, but keep in mind that small kids always have their fingers in their mouths, noses, etc. Not a good combination when dealing with fired casings. If we're worried about lead around a brass tumbler we should be worried evn more about children and dirty brass. Picking up the casings they shoot is one thing, but sending them to mine a range is another. I don't mean to offend anyone here, it's just the protective dad in me coming out.

archangel and shc1 have the right combo if you ain't got kids I've used the rake and kitty litter scoop works great. I didnt think about a magnet to get rid of the steel cases good idea, but you still have to get the cci aluminum out also if you sort theough piece at a time you can inspect every case as you pick out the steel.

http://www.baganut.com/ sells a brass harvester they seem to pickup quite a bit of grass this time of the year. I have a smaller version of the vacuum below in the works using a leaf blower, its unique in that most lawn vacuums run everything through the blower to mulch thus ruining any brass that might be there. I almost have it tuned to drop all of the brass into the bucket and pass through any leaves or grass (aluminum cases are giving me trouble).
