how do you feel about the NRA?

The Omaha shooting took place this week with an AK-47 and NOT ONE peep from the Democrats and liberals about an assault weapon ban.

Oh, it's coming. They're just waiting until after the election when the Dems will probably have an even wider margin of control in both houses of Congress and may well be in the White House also. You can be sure there will be another AWB as soon as a Democrat is elected President. The only question is will it be permanent or will it have a 10 year expiration like the last AWB. If I were a betting man, my money would say it will be permanent next time.

It was with an AK? No.... really? I haven't heard that once!!!!
Man.... So would an assault weapon ban include like... an AR-15? Man.... so the criminals already have weapons that ARE considered illegal.... so take away everyones rights to assault rifles.....cause I'm sure the criminals that are already breaking the laws will just waltz into the sheriffs office and hand them RIGHT in!

OK I have a solution join the NRA get voting rights (I think this is what I'll do when I join the NRA) and the support SAF that way when something comes up SAF will have the funds and if the NRA does not come in you can give them grief until they do. That way all bases are covered.

Any idiot can kill people. with a brick, a knife, a pillow, a leather strap, etc... It's a shame that anyone who knows that their family member is an instutionalised, depressed, idiot, loser, would not keep their ak locked up. amazing!

isn't this the same concept as "not allowing a felon to live in your household if you own a firearm" becasue it's illegal? If someone's been diagnosed as mentally ill.... LOCK IT UP!!!!!! OR GET IT OUT OF THE HOUSE, OR HAVE THE PERSON COMMITTED!!!!!

Ugh..... people like this ruin it for millions of GOOD NORMAL PEOPLE!

Thanks!
This is why my ammo is in separate ammo boxes, my guns are all in cases, and the ammo is NEVER in the cases. In the case of a break in where someone could grab a gun fast (if they could find them) there's no access to the ammo immediately.
other than that, I keep my Handgun in the closet by my bed, and a loaded magazine hidden in an inconspicuous container in another part of my closet. Easy for me,. but not for them. But I really need a small handgun safe soon with touch pad combo! That would be the best, and I'd feel safest about that!

Had a friend that got a felony really early in his life. Think he had a few DUI's. Stupid guy! Asked me if he could crash on my couch for a night or 2. I told him I couldn't allow that. I own guns and he has a felony on his record. he's my friend but the law comes first.

Aside from all of that... People need to know what the people in their home are capable of. If it conflicts with the possible safety of ANYONE.... you need to remove the problem, or the tools that could cause a problem from the home.
Ugh.... people...it's not that hard.

The NRA is just a propagandist arm of the right wing. Every election they tell you that so and so is going to take all the arms away from us. Aside from safety training class they have no use IMHO.

I'll drop my two cents & leave it at this I'm an NRA Life Member yet most of the so called Pro RKBA "individuals" always talk about what "they" want for "them" is that not self serving it's always "I" want blah blah blah the whole NRA should come to "my" town & do what "I" say & pay for what "I" want as well. So get up & do it for "yourself" or get out of the way nothing is 100% except bull$hit & flapping gums....."I" have spoken.

personally, i think the whole idea of lobbying is what is wrong with America, but perhaps working within the system is the best thing to do until it changes.
I agree..thats why the focus has shifted away from Individual Liberty because all The Federal govt deals with are groups fighting each other for the purse.

As a Benefactor memebr (IMHO) They compromise way too much.
I miss Heston....

LIFE MEMBER HERE.There is no other group in the political scene that has helped you keep your gun rights as long as the NRA.If gun owners, hunters dont wake up and check out who they vote for and put a person in office that thinks you dont need a 15 round magazine or a 100.00 pistol or more than three guns.then you are on the wrong side If you are not a member of the NRAgo to there sight and read WHAT THEY DO.GUN COLLECTORS IN CANADA AND ENGLAND WISH THEY HAD A GRUOP LIKE THE NRA HELPING TO PROTECT THERE RIGHTS.THINK ABOUT ITS THE ONLY GROUP TELLING GOVT.THAT YOU NEED TO KEEP YOUR GUNS AND YOU WONT SUPPORT THEM.YOU MAY BE ON THE WRONG WEBSITE.

So, do you think that there are no politicians wanting to disarm Americans?

The NRA may have warts, they may compromise a bit much for me, but they have kept the militant grabbers from taking too much.

i have grown up with the belief that the NRA is in the pocket of 90% of the govt.

and that they get gun control laws put into legislation so they can get more members and more donations.

Well, see if this will change your beliefs. :)

More Proof Americans Support Gun Rights & NRA Has Clout In Elections

Friday, December 21, 2007

Need more confirmation that a majority of Americans support the Right to Keep and Bear Arms and that voters listen to NRA at election time?

A CNN/Opinion Research Corporation telephone poll of 1,002 U.S. adults was carried out December 6-9, and the results won’t surprise you. Sixty five percent of Americans believe the Constitution guarantees the Right to Keep and Bear Arms; including 72% of men and 58% of women.

And a Zogby International poll for Associated Television News, conducted December 13-17, that surveyed 6,072 Americans, found 27% of voters would be more likely to support a candidate endorsed by NRA (through its PAC, NRA Political Victory Fund). In terms of potential voters, that could translate into 40 million registered voters. The survey showed NRA ranks above Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, the AFL-CIO, Oprah Winfrey, and Barbara Streisand in influencing voters!

I'm not a member, but I have a hard time thinking of an organization that does more for the 2nd amendment. And, I have a hard time coming up with a group the gun grabbers fear more.
Maybe I should join?

How do I FEEL? FRUSTRATED!

I have been a life member for 15 years. About ten years ago I started sending the NRA's fundraising pre-paid envelopes back to them with a nice note tucked inside. It told them that:

1. I am a life member of the NRA

2. I am also a member of GOA

3. I am unsatisfied with the NRA's continual compromise approach with the anti's

4. I am very happy with GOA's No-Compromise approach

5. Until the NRA began to LOUDLY and VIGOROUSLY work for the repeal of the GCA 1968, and the NFA 1934, My contributions, when I may be able to make them, will go to GOA or other such No-Compromise organizations.

I stopped getting fund-raising letters after a while. I still get my Rifleman, every month, like clockwork.

Its threads like this that help me determine new candidates for my 'ignore list' as the best and worst are brought out of people and their true colors show.

I've been a life member for 8 years now, and a annual member for several years earlier than that. The complaints that people make about the NRA are almost always just plain pathetic.

Not an NRA member, probably never will. Their over-the-top rabble-rousing rhetoric was a major turn-off for me, and I am a very stout literal-interpretation of the the 2nd amendment guy. If they wanted to get my support, they should have sent something that was logically put together, and persuasive, not just 4 pages of ranting, rambling, and hyperbole. Don't get me wrong, I support their advocacy for our rights, but as an organization they just turn me off.

I belong to the NRA, TSRA and GOA and am considering membership in the Jewish gun org. The NRA is far from perfect as is any org. that is large, old and has developed a top heavy organization. It serves a purpose and continues to serve it's members although some of us don't always agree with it.

Meh. In 2004, we came within like 1% of the vote from having a President who flew back to DC during the campaign to vote for a bill to ban all centerfire rifle ammunition. How many gun owners might have sat out that election if it weren't for the NRA's "sky-is-falling" mailers and such? How many who aren't on internet gun boards would have even known about it? Does anyone think CNN or the rest of the anti-gun media would have even mentioned it and tipped their proverbial hand had the NRA not made it an issue?

Think about that for a second. Then imagine all the laws Kerry could be enthusiastically signing now that his pals Feinstein, Schumer, and Kennedy are in charge of committees. Would anyone really prefer that to a few annoying pieces of junk mail?

Well, I'm coming late to this party, but just yesterday I threw my NRA ball cap in the garbage, scraped the sticker off my truck, and tossed out all of the magazines I've been saving for my son to get out of Basic. What prompted my decision was the announcement in the latest edition that they have taken on Ollie North as a board member. Any organization that chooses to associate with a criminal terrorist liar like him can do so without my support.

NRA: Sellouts, compromisers--they make Neville Chamberlin look like a stalwart principled hardliner, self-aggrandizing suits.

I wouldn't be a member if my private gun club didn't require it.

Republican shills, blowhards who know nothing but how to accomodate to the opposition, lovers of the 'war on terror against guns' but, like the present administration, do for their own pocketbook, not the principle.

Like someone said, more like the AARP than the JPFO...from whom they could learn a lot...if the JPFO or some other organization had the financial backing the NRA seeks without shame, the NRA would look like shirkers they really are.

Enough with them and Republicans.

Sixty five percent of Americans believe the Constitution guarantees the Right to Keep and Bear Arms
Wow that tells you how much work we have to do right there. If 35% of americans haven't read those very simple words in the 2nd amendment and don't understand them, we need to get to work. We can't rely on the NRA or any other gun organization. We need to educate ourselves on the history of the 2nd amendment and teach children and peers.
