I have a 91/30 that has the straight bolt. All numbers match, but I would like a bent bolt on it. Now the question is.... Would having the handle bent be an unforgivable bubba-ization???? or simply a modification? If the latter is true who bends bolts? If the former is true where can I buy a bent bolt to go on the rifle? Man this bolt action thing is addictive. I bought the Mosin just to have one, yesterday I picked up a Yugo capture K98 because you can't play enemy at the gates without a German and a Russian....

Sight hood and cleaning rod have already been ordered. If anyone has a sling and a bayo they want to part with let me know.

Sure, bending a M91/30 bolt is a bubbafication but heck, with so many out there, who cares? There is at least one guy advertising that he will bend your bolts on the front page of gunboards.com. Personally, I think the straight bolt is easier to handle on a Mosin - each to his own. In any case - yes, bolt action surplus rifles are great fun!

You can get a bent bolt off e-bay from the boltman, less than 40$ shipped with no permanent modifications.

If you're going to get the bent sniper bolt, please, buy a new one, and pull the old one for storage. Yes, there are lots of Mosins, but there was lots of Springfields at the end of both wars, sold for pennies, Bubbafied HARD, and now originals command some high prices. Buy the aftermarket bolt, get the scope mount that fits the rear sight base, and have fun. If the rifle has two screw plugs you can see inside the reciever, on the left wall, then it is an ex-sniper, and putting an original Russian scope back on would not be a bubbafication.
