Tax rebate. How will you spend it? (Merged threads)

I won't really buy a Fiat, of course (much underestimated cars however for home mechanics I've heard--a solid value).

I will maybe: 1) Make a pile of 400 crisp-from-the-bank 2 dollar bills and burn them in public. Maybe I will role around on them buck naked first and make a video to play on a loop to display while I do so. I will renounce my GOP membership and become a perfomance artist.

2) Buy ammo and booze (at the same time, from walmart, of course!)

3) Attempt to purchase about 1 Oz of gold (or whatever ammount of gold I can get for my new windfall). When the transaction is completed I will snarl at my fellow citizen-gold dealer holding mere greenbacks and say "SUCKER".

Yes, I'm buying ammo.

Since I am part of a family, if my wife lets me spend my half I will order 6.8 target crown upper from model 1 sales. The rest will go to mags and ammo.

Time to buy that evil black rifle. Then my collection will be complete! What will I do now, oh yeah accessorize!

Well, since I normally have to pay in a little bit, maybe this will actually help me break even...lol.

Otherwise, I would buy some hunting "stuff"

Depending on the reviews when it is finally released -
Kel-tec RFB 7.62mm w/ 18 inch barrel

Otherwise:
DPMS/RRA/Bushmaster .308
or
Kel-tec PLR-16 & (S&W M&P 40 or XD 40 SC)

The Trailblazer needs new tires this spring, so that would be $500 of it.

I've heard Bush is pushing for $800 per individual... but congress is thinking more like $500 and maybe as low as $300. C-SPAN should be very interesting next week

depending on how much they actually give me, I heard the 800 will reallly end up being something around 500. I'm thinking PT1911, Ruger P345 or a Glock 21 if i was to get another gun. Either that or I'm gonna buy some more clothes since i'm hunting for a better job

Something in .308 (AR10 platform or possibly an M1A with more green) or start my first AR project...or a couple AKs since I seem to have more 7.62 right now.
I better buy something because if it goes into checking it'll dissolve into bills and $40 midway orders quickly and I'll wonder what the heck I spent it on.

Well...if I had an extra 1600 coming on top of what I'll be getting this year...shoot. I don't even know. I'd probably pull that 1600 and go bargain shopping for the following

Plane Jane WASR, no lug, no muzzle brake, just the ability to take hi-cap mags
Yugo SKS
Russian SKS
Bulgarian Makarov
Russian TT-33 Tokarev
91/30 Mosin Nagant
M44 Mosin Nagant
Plenty of ammo to go around.

Did I mention that I've come down with a bad case of Commie Gun Fever?

Mine, too. And body work. Ugh. Should still have enough for another weapon after all that, though. 1911 or Glock 34 most likely.

Use it to make up for the plunging stock market?
Agreed.I lost over $200 in 1 day with my 401K, and all my money is in international funds, as I havent trusted our econemy for quite a while.Seems America really IS a "global leader", which aparently also means as we spin down the crapper, we're taking the rest of the world with us.Maybe we need to to stop being a leader and just worry about ourselves for a while and let the rest of the world do thier own thing and sink or swim on thier own.

I will probably buy ammo that I do not reload with some of it. Of course it is all a fantasy as every year we owe and April 15 will fall long before this rebate thing ever arrives.

Besides that where is this money coming from? They are spending more than they are taking in and now talking about giving us some back? I don't know what household that works in.

I would buy a few toys that go bang, but it will almost exactly cover what I am going to owe this year.

I would like to pick up an AK, an 1895 in .45-70, and a .45 of some kind. Oh well. Gotta save up now. At least it won't take as long. :)

What will I do?

AR15 or Para-Ord 1911 :D

(or pay some bills if things go south wage wise)

Put it in our savings account. Like most people who don't use it to pay down excess debt. What do they think, we've been holding off for years on a purchase we really wanted to make, and that only costs a few hundred bucks? If I couldn't scrape together a few hundred bucks over the course of a few years, for something that I really wanted, it would probably be because I was in debt -- therefore I'd use the money to help free myself of debt, not buy toys. I've been there, oh yes, I have. More than once.

A ranch in Montana, or even a nice new Viper or a Hummer H1 might be nice, but those are a little bit more expensive, and gas prices make owning any of the three a bit less attractive than they once were. But at least those are things I might want but haven't ever had the money to buy...

This has been done twice before, and that's what most people did: save it or pay down credit cards.

It's a stupid plan, based on debunked economic theory, designed to buy our votes with our own money -- or maybe the nearly 50% of Americans who don't pay net income taxes are being bought with my money. But I'll take whatever I can get back, since we pay too much in taxes as it is.

Or maybe I should use some of it to get some black market Cuban cigars...

It's hard to have any real awareness of what's going on in DC without being not only cynical, but downright spiteful.

Is this like the last rebate where everyone got it without regard to whether or not they were an actual tax payer?

If so, I'm stocking up on vaseline:cuss:

Much like the original poster, I am thinking about buying a redhawk in .45LC

However, I have been trying lately to buy up all the "assault weapons" that might be banned in the near future and magazines for those weapons that I have aqquired. I might just pick myself up an ar-15 of some sort and a bunch of magazines.

A Hi-Point 995-B 9mm Carbine and a good double-stack Double/single action 9mm (an old Model 59 S&W if I can find one).
