Why can't a gun dealer sell Ruger factory Mini-14 mags to us?

Ruger hasn't nor will they ever get any of my spare change! The only thing they make that has ever interested me is the revolvers. But to date their competition has gotten my money every time!

Have two AR's so don't need a Mini 14. Love my 10/22 from 1970's with a one of the better walnut stocks in my collection. Still looking for a 90% plus with the Mannlicher stock. Can kick myself for not buying one when they were new. But wait, I was 16! I could barely afford the basic 10/22 after selling my old Savage to a buddy. :)

I buy a 20rnd Ruger Factory Mag/month. I've not had problem getting them. There are dozens of distributors. $50/mag, though. So, not cheap.

Last I heard Ruger had stopped making 20 and 30 round Mini-14/Ranch Rifle magazines altogether (i.e. they are out of production), so the only ones available these days are either used Ruger magazines or aftermarket magazines from other manufacturers. Was this rumour incorrect? It sounded believable to me since the law enforcement .223 rifle market has pretty much gone over exclusively to the AR-15, so with Mini-14 sales to police departments pretty much ended and Ruger's official policy of only selling 20 and 30 rounders to law enforcement, there really wouldn't be any reason for Ruger to keep the 20 and 30 round magazines in production anymore.

I've got a gunrag around here somewhere that shows 2 new models of mini14 that both come with a 20 round mag. If they are LEO only it makes no mention of it.

Ruger currently sells their 20rd magazines to anyone with the cash to afford 'em.

Some threads should just be allowed to die a quiet death. This is one of 'em, IMO.

How many of you bashing Ruger own a Colt or HK? :scrutiny: I don't actually care to hear everyones answer of "no, I don't own a Colt or HK." But for those that do, make sure you flush that toilet and spray from air freshener before you come out.
