.22LR Bolt Action Rifle?

Why would you want a .22 that is as heavy as a centerfire rifle? One of the real pleasures of .22 rifles is how light they are. I have a Ruger 77/22 bolt action (10 shot rotary mag) that is one of my favorite rifles.

If you want a heavyweight .22, you need to go to a bull barrel target rifle, like an Anschutz or the Remington you posted a pic of. Those are pretty much all going to be single shots because they are designed for target shooting.

Get a trigger job for one of these and don't look back

I picked up this Ruger 77/22 stanless heavy barrel with a laminated stock in November 2006 and have been quite pleased with it. A friend took the factory trigger from 5.35 llbs to 2.5 for me. Other than that, she is box stock and has proven to be quite the shooter. It weighs 8 lbs 10 ozs and is right at home with my T-36 on it.

look for the marlin or savage benchrest type rifles, savage made a mk II heavy bbl, straight bbl, with peep front and rear sites. marlin made the 2000 the 7000, the 795, and the 880sq. these are all mag fed type, some are ten rounders.
the 880 and 795 have field type stocks to them, but you can either heavy them up, or get a aftermarket stock for them. You can see all kind tricked out 2000 and 7000's with some superheavy stocks, all over the place.

Neat rifles all. Myself, right now I have a 10-22, which is not at all that accurate, and a conversion kit for a G3.

Next is a full stock CZ 452. It seems difficult to buy one online and know the figure of the wood.

Oh well.

If you're more interested in quality than price take a look at Cooper and Kimber. For a .22 conesouer check out a nice Winchester 52B or 52C....the ultimate in .22 rifles.

Don't buy one on-line unless you like playing the lottery. Not all CZ wood was created equally.

It's worth it to pay more, and drive farther, if you want nice wood.

Hah. I had started typing Kimber 82G when I read more carefully on the restrictions. IMO, it is an exceptional value and quite accurate. So impressively accurate that I bought 3 of them.

If you are going to look into the current Kimber (as oppose to the old Kimber that made the 82G) rimfire offerings, look fast. Kimber is dropping their line of rimfires.

I would look for a Winchester 52 with the standard target bbl. Accurate, nice and heavy, detachable mag, accurate, and bunches of upgrades are avaiable. They can be had anywhere from $400 and up usually.

But, my Kimber Hunter doesn't quite have the tactical/targety look that anit-paladin seems to be looking for (pictured with my fixed 6 Sightron on board - not the big Swift used to shoot the little groups):



Maybe the beefier fluted barrel Hunter Silhouette Model will do.
