Sometimes, failing is GOOD

I don't know, part of a six way tie for 37th. Plus we loosen restrictions every year - this year we are going for lifetime CCW permit, no CCW permit to conceal in your car, cap on fees, CCW without a permit down to a petty offense, adding illegals to the definition of prohibited possesor, and a few other efforts. Some will fail, some will pass. And we move onward and upward, er..."downward", on thier list.

California is in 1st place with 79 points, which puts it 16 points in front of New Jersey.

To quote the immortal Alfred E. Neuman, "Blecch!"

DANG, the Gunshine State is in a 3 way tie for 32nd place. Come on Floridians we can do better, lets get going!

I wonder why Indiana is only in the 30s. As far as I know, our gun laws are as good or better than Kentucky's. Although we do not have open carry.

44th for me, I've been trying to talk the wife into moving back to Oklahoma guess I should start pushing a little harder.

Azizza, last I checked, Indi HAS open carry.

Interestingly, OK does not.

Gotta love Missouri. We went from a Brady grade of C+ to a strong F thanks to Govenor Blunt's hard push for pro gun rights. He's the best thing that's ever happened to Missouri... and it's a darn shame he isn't running for another term :(

My one gripe -- scratch that, my BIGGEST gripe --- about Florida is that we do not have open carry.

Govenor Blunt's

LOL. What a great name for a statesman. It would have been funnier if it was Bill "I didn't inhale" Clinton's name.

Just moved here (Colorado) from Kansas, and this doesn't seem to make sense to me...

CO has legal open carry without a permit, legal carry of loaded handgun or long gun in car without permit, and a few others.

I don't know... I'm just glad I don't live in California.

In Colorado you can have a long gun loaded but not chambered. this is one test I'd LOVE to fail

Right. I guess I should have clarified. I like to think that people don't get their legal advice here, but if they're dumb enough to not check for themselves... well, I won't wish any legal trouble on anyone. :)

it appears to me the sheer quantity and confusing nature of gun laws is part of the rating.

I think the reason KY is rated so well is because the laws here are so straightforward. Add preemption, castle doctrine, -50% restaurant carry, open carry, the CCDW (more than firearms), etc, and we were a shoe-in for a great score.
