Anyone remotely intimate with a model 12 shotgun?
I am having some cycling issues with mine, and had some questions.

here's the deal...After squeezing the trigger, the pump will not come back without depressing the bolt release located by the trigger guard.
Now granted, I have not put a live round in and fired it, but with snap caps it will not allow you to cycle the pump without first pushing the release.

I have taken it apart, and completely degunked it, lubed and reassembled.

Everything is as it should be, but still no cycle.

Any help is appreciated.

Chris!

Your dry firing right? during firing, your model 12 is designed to unlock after the slide moves forward. when dry firing you dont get recoil which causes the slide to move forward. your model 12 is working as designed. after dry fire push the slide away from you then pull back.

This sounds exactly backwards of how it should work. On my Dad's Model 12 if you have an round chambered you can't eject it without hitting the slide release, but after the trigger is pulled you should be able to cycle the slide.

you are correct, and the issue is a non issue after all!

thank you for your help birdshot!

Thanks birdshot8's. You taught an old dog a new trick. It amazes me to realize after all these years I guess I never dry fired mine. As for m14nut "What a DEAL" you got a great gun. All Model 12's have collector value , just some collectors are more discerning than others.

My model twelve does the same thing, have to pull the slide twice to get it to eject the snap cap.. But when fired everything is normal..
