I'm not sure if I've posted this here or not some while back (I've looked and can't see that I have), any help you all could give me would be greatly appreciated.

I have a Lee four hole turret press (I can't afford any better right now and it mostly works). The disc powder measure doesn't function the way I think it should. When I insert a case, it doesn't push the tube up far enough to move the disc measure all of the way forward.

I've taken some photos and put them on the net so I don't kill the bandwidth here. http://www.novashooter.net/press_probs/PressProblem.htm

The page has small graphics on it for faster download (those of you with 56K) that can be clicked on for larger photos. If anybody can give me a clue it would be most appreciated.

Sinsaba You need to screw the the die into the turret a little more. Screw in a little at a time and then check the auto disk. It should coming forward as you screw the die into the turret! Hope this makes sense!!! Good Luck

It is already screwed in as far as it goes (i.e. it touches the shell holder). That's what I thought it was too.

Are you getting good consistent powder drops? That is the main thing. I am not familiar with the design and cannot see if the powder hole is lining up corecctly with the drop tube or not. It may be it is not designed to move all the way, but only to where it is going. If it is inconsistent, I would CALL Lee. I have found most of the manufacturer's of reloading stuff to be quite helpful on the phone. Email is free mail, and you know what they say about free advice !

I went and looked at mine. It lloks like it shouldbe coming forward a little more. Are you sure the disk is on correctly? I mean is the little slot line up correctly with the little black catch (the thing that move it forward). When I adjust mine I take of the powder You only need to off the hopper and hold down on the disk with my finger as I work the casing up into the die. All you need is for the hole (which holds the powder) to clear the die. That way all your powder drops into casing. I would take the casing off and work with it notice how it works. Wish I was there to help!

Sounds like you've got the disk on wrong. There is a lever that sticks up that moves the disk side to side to dump the powder; it goes into a slot on the bottom of the disk- if you put the disk on wrong it will not be in the slot in the correct spot on the disk to line everything up when it dumps. As said above, take off the powder hopper, gently hold the disk down in the metal part of the measure and work a case up and down in the die to watch how it moves. I'll bet you can figure out how to mount the disk right by this method.
If assembled correctly, the black disk should be just a litte bit off of the back side of the metal body of the powder measure (the side away from the die drop hole).

Thank You Everybody

I really appreciate the response I've gotten. While everybody seemed to hit on the disc being in wrong (I knew it wasn't but I went back out to check anyway), it turns out that the disc wasn't the problem.

When I was in the garage checking to make sure I got to thinking, the powder measure isn't a stock setup any more. I put the riser on it and I put the swivel on it. I had the powder measure on this morning without the riser but I never tried it without the swivel. As long as I was out there I switched back to doing it without the swivel and it works just fine!

I don't know why the swivel is causing a problem but I'm going to let Lee Precision figure that out.

Again, thank you everybody for your help.

I have the exact same problem. I can't figure out how to remove the swivel to try it without. So, I'm giving up and trashing the darned thing. Time for a uniflow.
