Damn some of you are reacting like John Stossel just throwed holy water on you. Even the United Nations out of one side of their mouth will say that self defense is a HUMAN RIGHT. I won't get into the fray except to say that JOHN STOSSEL is right! gun control is not equal to crime control. Never was. Never will be.

Speaking of towns in the old west and gun control. The James Gang was almost annihilated by the ARMED CITIZENS of Northfield Minnesota. The Dalton Gang was almost annihilated by the ARMED CITIZENS of Coffeyville, Kansas. The citizens took casualties from the outlaws but they prevailed in protecting their loved ones and property.

I would much rather take a chance that a crossfire stray bullet will get me than an unopposed killer calmly whistling dixie until he got to me. DUH.

I swear. The hell with finding a cure for cancer we need to put more funds into curing DUMB because it has gotten epidemic.

They're all the same. And they still insist on quoting the Kellerman study, which has been debunked so many times it's like an old joke.

The argument that the Second A applies to only members of the militia is indefensible. Ask the leading Constitutional scholars at Harvard, Standford et al who are liberal and WISH the SecA applied only to the militia! DO YOUR RESEARCH!!! "Regulated" when the Bill of Rights was written meant "organized" not controlled and Madison, one of the authors, authored many letters etc. supporting the INDIVIDUAL RESPONSIBILITY to bear arms! Every able male was considered to be a "member of the militia" and Jeffferson heartily endorsed the idea that EVERY male should carry a firearm to deter crime if nothing else! ANYONE who believes that the Second Amendment entitles only the "militia" to bear arms is either ignorant or stupid, take your pick!!!

Men who support handgun control are physical and intellectual cowards!

Freud stated that the fear of firearms was as sign of intellectual and sexual imaturity!

I think we're starting to win this thing.

Just put in my two cents. Stossel is great.

"Take away guns from law abiding citizens, and guess who's left with guns? CRIMINALS, LAW ENFORCEMENT, and the MILITARY.

"Criminals don't care about gun laws. If a dude starts shooting up a public place, what are people supposed to do? Bend over and pray?

"Excuse me for pointing out that guns are not akin to 'nucular' weapons."

I kept #304 short because I figured that might catch some folks' attention. One can only hope.

I just replied to the first comment and made the assumption it was the latest. Oops!

Does anyone have the right to deprive me of a tactical nuclear missile as long as I promise to use it responsibly. Oops, I was a little irresponsible and killed a lot of people. Or better yet, oops, someone stole it from my home and blew up the neighborhood. But don't blame me for having that dangerous weapon at my house. It's my right, dammit.

That is a reductio ad absurdum logical fallacy, a reduction to the absurd.

By using the same type of logical fallacy, I can claim that if blacks and women want rights, then dogs and cats will want rights too, as well as children and illegal immigrants. If gays can get married, whats to stop gays from marrying little boys? Whats to stop people from marrying animals or robots?

The second amendment isn't about duck hunting. It's about protection from tyrannical governments and threats domestic and abroad. Please find me ONE SINGLE ATTRIBUTABLE QUOTE from our founding fathers that claimed that the right to bear arms is a collective militia right.

You will find NONE.

In fact, all our period publications (Federalist, Anti-Federalist papers), newspapers, speeches, quotes, and literature clearly refer to the right of bearing arms as an individual right.

Me too!

I left a beautiful reply with thanks to John for his article, and yet was unable to keep it short. In fact I have it saved on my computer here, to be edited, for use at a later date.
I hope that my use of logic will help uncloud the eyes and judgment of those who let emotion rule their life.

guns make people kill. my cousin was an ok guy but when he was
desperate for drugs he would do anything for money, one day he broke into
a house and an old lady killed him for no reason and she even got away with it.
she told the cops she was afraid of being raped! she was like 50 or 60 and nobody would ever
want to rape an old lady like that. he was just going to take a tv or radio and he broke into houses all
the time, if people cuoperated then he wouldn't hurt them, if they got silly he may of slapped
them but he never killed nobody.
he didn't even have no gun and she killed him as he was climbing through a window, how is that right?
if no one could have guns my cousin would be alive today!
