Married Guys: Does your wife shoot with you?

Yes, my wife shoots with me and our two teen sons. When she finds a gun that fits her and she likes, she confiscates it, hogs it at the range, puts it in the gun safe on her side of the bed ;). A couple of years ago I found a really nice used 5 shot Taurus snub nose revolver in .45 Colt, snapped it up. I haven't seen much of it since my wife shot it, she loves it.

She has also confiscated a Glock 17, in an attempt to appease her I bought her a new Glock 26 for our anniversary a couple years ago as she was preparing to get her concealed carry permit.

Last year she decided she wanted her own AR-15. Of course I got one for her :D.

My wife is slowly becoming more interested and not just tolerent. She has almost claimed a couple of my guns. She was trying one out in her purse last weekend after we went shooting. She took a liking to a Charter Arms .38 last weekend at a gun show that was pink. I don't always want her coming with my son and I because it is a fun bonding time for us.

Well, we hit a new milestone today in the "wife and gun" saga.

First the good news --finally, after two years, she came to range with me for the first time!:D

Now the bad news -- she waited in the car and read a book!:(

Mine likes shooting but she hates the lead smell, because she is a hair colorist, and it irratetes her lungs, but she is an avid video game player, first person shooters like Quake where she is ranked way up past me, and has been doing this online for almost 10 years now.

Here is a success story!

Mine grew up in a hunting family, but was vehemently opposed to even being around them when I first met her. (All that liberal college brainwashing, is my theory.) Just the sight of a handgun on the table made her nervous. Guns were evil and the general public didn't have any having them. We went to the range regularly for familiarization, safe handling and marksmanship practice. That evolved into some low-key competition shooting with the aid of some good-hearted brethren at the Sportmen's Club.

Before long, she was asking me when I was going to take her back, and chastising me for not getting out there enough.

Her favorite event: trap shooting.
Her favorite pistola: 1911 gov't model in .45 (go figure).
And she's a damn good shot with most everything she picks up.

I love her, and she's mine.

Instead of all the other fancy girly things, my wife got a Ruger Blackhawk .357 and a Rossi 92 Carbine .357 for her 16th birthday. She has killed a 7'6" cougar with the revolver. She also carries everyday, she loves her taurus pt-111. She pretty much outshoots me most of the time, and can shoot anything. Her favorite hunting rifle is her Rem 700 .300 win mag (used to be mine).:(

My wife has shown no interest in shooting.

She asked me the other day, "How many guns do you have in that gun safe?" to which I replied, "All of them".

My wife LOVES to shoot, I recently got back into it and immediately she had to have her own gun to shoot. She has a SIG Mosquito .22 but has shot everything I have as well.

If I go to the range WITHOUT her, I better keep it a secret!

Bozz

this one dos. she loves magnums and has 3 M29s

during a lull in conversation, she asks me when are we going shooting again..

this is the girl that reloads her own

Sure...My wife owns and shoots a Savage 99 in .300sav, a Remington 141 in .35rem (her favorite), a Mossberg plinkster, a Super Blackhawk, a KT P3AT, and a Phoenix HP22. She also shoots my guns, but doesn't care too much for my 91/30...

my wife didnt shoot when i met her. went to gun gun shop for ammo heard wife say isnt that pretty:banghead: now she has better looking guns than i do justnot as many :rolleyes:btw she now shoots just as good as i do rimfire and pistol but wont touch "big" rifles

My wife and I have pretty similar interests. When we got married, she started riding MX with me and now she races desert races and flat tack. Since she took to that so well I thought she might like shooting too. She has been going out shooting with me lately and is enjoying it. She asked for a Saiga to convert for her B-day, as well as a new hand gun. She'll shoot the 870 but it is not her favorite. She really likes the CZ-p01 and the M&P .40 out of the handguns, and likes shooting the hunting rifles, 308 recoil or less. So far, she is really enjoying it, but I think the biggest thing for her is the sense of empowerment, in terms of having a greater ability to defend herself - she appreciates that and believes in todays world that it is important for women to be able to do.

Yeah, after 37 years we do most stuff together. She's probably not quite as crazy about guns as I am, but not too far behind. She'll shoot 9mm - in fact she took over my Beretta 92fs - and .38 out of my 686 or SAA (correction her ruger Vaquero). She insisted on a left handed AR15. She plays golf, too.

my gal shoots with me! she is pretty good with the 9mm's, but not so hot with the 45's. this weekend we went and shot my 12 and 20 gauge and (slugs)her shoulder is black and blue and a lil green!!!!!!it was pretty fun watchin her and alot of the guys around us were like "DAMN!" pretty funny.

She's been talking about it and we are finally going today. She will start with the Ruger MKII .22 and perhaps the CZ82. She has never fired a handgun before , so we had a bit of a lesson last night on the usual dos and don'ts.
If she shoots better than me, I've told her she is officially uninvited in the future...

No she doesn't. But my youngest daughter wants to get a CCW and "Dad" is going to take her out to the range to shoot my .357 mag. with .38's for starters. Don't want to scare her. My ex-wife shot with me and at me! Thank God she wasn't a good shot! LOL!

P.S. That's why she's my ex!:what:

My wife is my usual shooting partner. She prefers pistol shooting over pretty much everything else, but she does stay familiar with our home defense setup, Shotguns and AR's as well. She does carry a pistol as well, which I'm glad. She changed up several times in the last couple years but has settled in with a SIG P232 finally as her everyday sidearm, and she's a darn good shot with it too.
