Can anyone recommend a good set of BUIS for a Smith & Wesson M&P15 Carbine. I don't care about price. I'm looking for quality.... and some cool pictures.
My m&p 15 came with a Troy two aperture flip up. Very solid. I don't have any experience with the others, but the Troy has everything I look for in a BUIS.
I've used the ARMS #40 and Troy on my personal rifles and much prefer the Troy for a flip rear sight. If you want elevation adjustment in a folding sight then your options are much more limited; but since I can't really acquire targets with irons past 300yds usually given my eyesight, I don't worry about it.
We built, low profile, and simple. No elevation adjustment, and you need a round to adjust the windage, so there's nothing for you to accidentally screw up when you need it.
Thanks for the advice. Sorry it took me two days to respond, I've been in the woods with my Nat'l Guard unit since Friday. If S&W goes with Troy, that's good enough for me. I own 3 pistols and my new AR by them and they've never let me down on quality.
Stay away from UTG, I have an M&P w/ a 16" barrell and bought UTG front and rear BUIS for it. I was unable to get my rifle to zero with the BUIS' so I zeroed with my EO Tech first, then tried to get my BUIS to match the dot of my holosight. The UTG's would not adjust low enough.
Has anyone else had an issue with BUIS on a flat top M-4 style AR? I have tried a few things and can not get BUIS that will zero. I know that when using a detachable carry handle w/ a 16" barrel the front sight apeture must be .004 taller than a normal apeture (this is according to Bushmaster) but even with flip up front and rear I can not get the front sight post low enough, (and yes I am following correct 25 M Zero procedure). The gas block rail and reciever rail are the same height, is there a special BUIS config I need?
