Took 45 minutes to get it together and that included the time it took to slap in the mag and install the sling.

Now I just have to wait till Saterday to shoot it.

I do have few questions before then.

1. The rear sight can move 2 clicks lower then the 8/3 setting. Has it already been set for the 50/200 improved battle sight setting? And if I set it for that setting and I want to go out to 300 I just set it to the 8/3 and set it to the 4 for 400 yards and so on right? Few thing confuse me more then US military sights.

2. Can I swap the front sight posts with the one on my 10/22 Tech Sights? The post is a little skinnier then the one on the AR but I believe it is an A1 post.

3. should I use grease or CLP for the first hundred rounds or so and how much to use?

Congrads. Wheres the pics? I can't anwser you questions but I'm sure someone else can. BTW when did you order it? I've been thinking of getting one.

Yes lets see some pics. I just got a Del-Ton mid length kit last week too. I built it on a Double Star lower. Took it out this weekend and it shot great. Here's mine:

I built mine on a Double Star lower and got one of thoughs plastic bipod too but I opted for a M4 stock and A2 upper. And sorry no digi cam but I'll see if I can find a cheap one at Wal-Mart when I'm buying ammo tomarrow and see if I can figure out how to use it.

I answer my own question about the sight post. They won't interchange so I will have order a NM post.

How long did it take for the kit to arrive? I was going to order my lowers from del-ton but they said the delay was 3-4 weeks, AND they were $18 more each than they were from colemantyler.com.

As far as grease, do you mean like axle grease? CLP works on everything. My buddy in the marines said they'd strip thier recievers and toss all the parts in a 55gal barrel of CLP and let em sit overnight; which translates to yes ;).

Just got mine too. Like the rifle but having buffer problems. It came apart. There should be a roll pin in the plastic but there isn't even a hole. Will call Del-ton ASAP. I got the A-2 upper and M-4 stock too.

I ordered my kit on febuary 25 and I got it last thursday. I was almost a month but I knew that when I ordered it. Mark

Tell your cuz that they lost me with the 3-4 week wait. I'm sure they aren't bad people and I don't know what it's like to run an internet-based distributor, but 3-4 week for stickin a few parts in a box seems excessive *shrug*. Especially when colemantyler shipped my order the next day :(.

My Cousin, last time I talked to her, basically had her hand in every part of the business. She worked with building rifles to filing paperwork, etc. I don't know the specifics, but she certainly likes her job there.

Sorry to hear that Tarvis.

And I havn't tried getting a discount. However, I am looking to grab up a few AR-15 parts and build my own one of these days...

I really wanted to go with Del-Ton for my build, but they couldn't/wouldn't get me a middy barrel with anything other than 1x9 twist, and I wanted 1x7.

I waited 6 weeks and had mine delivered this week.

put it together on my Anvil Arms lower in ~ 1 hour....no problems.

Will shoot for first time this weekend.

They told me about the back order the day I placed the order.

I can understand why you feel that way....but any distributor is at the mercy of their suppliers. I was told the mid-length barrels were on back order, but then when they came in they had to send many back because of a quality problem.

I'd rather have them catch and fix the problem than just pass it down the line.

I think the rush is already on and MANY people are trying to beat the Democrats "new and improved" AWB.

My only observation is that the finish on the upper receiver is a little rough.....not as smooth and clean as the lower.

I'm wondering if it's cast???? But don't know enough to make the call.

They told me about the back order the day I placed the order.

Did you call to place the order or did you go through their website?

I'm curious because the kit I ordered was delayed bigtime due to a backordered part. I ordered a MagPul CTR that was backordered but not listed as such on their website. (I was later told by Laura at Del-Ton, "We have had a rather large order with MagPul for over a month and these were a previous order with them.") I wasn't notified afterward either. I had to visit their website to check on my order status and then email/call to find out why it was backordered. When they got back to me, they offered me the option to switch to a different color CTR that they had in stock.

I'm wondering if my order somehow managed to fall through the cracks or if this type of thing is SOP with them. This was my first order with Del-Ton and I'm hoping to get some info before I decide whether or not I want to do business with them again.

I ordered back on Feb. 6 and they sent me an email yesterday notifying me that it had finally shipped.

I ordered on the web site, and received e-mail confirmation.

then Laura called me the next day to tell me about the delay

bottom line is that it took a LONG time....but I'm attributing that to the politically motivated rush, Del-Ton being a small company, and the fact that they were by far the least expensive deal going out there at the time.

Thanks for the reply.

Normally, I don't mind waiting. But I like to be kept in the loop as well. That didn't happen here. The funny thing is that after we got the stock situation straightened out, they had it out the door in 13 calendar days.

Its not that I or anyone else should be mad at them or even have a reason to. Afterall, we as consumers make choices on who we want to give our money to. If we made a bad choice, it isn't the vendor's fault we chose wrong, it's our own. I'd get mad if they told me one thing and did another, but in the end I chose to do business with the wrong outfit. I'm not saying Del-Ton is the anti-christ and we need to contact Ralph Nader, more that they were unwilling or unable to accomodate my time frame. It's a bummer for them that they didn't get my business, but in the end I found the same product for cheaper so I'm happy they were backordered ;).

Sounds a lot like what I do on the farm :).

I got two boxes of UMC,two boxes of PMC. The rifle is all lubed with CLP and the range bag all geared up. I will see if this thing is worth the money and 3 week wait in the morning and give a range report sometime in the afternoon.

I think from what I have read that the sight is set for the improved battle sit so I will just site it in that way and see if I like it.

Wish me luck.

Well it shoots. I think a few sharp edges on the grip might have to meet the wrong end of the Drimmel Tool though.

Accuracy was about 3 1/2" to 4" with 10 rds at 100 but I'm sure the rifle is more accurate then I am. I caught myself flenching a few times which I think is the result of me not being used to the loud muzzle blast from a 16" 223 and the sprung noise the bolt buffer makes. Just need to get used to it.

I had two stove pipes with the 20 rounds but I won't make a big deal out of it until I have put a few more rounds through it and get it broken in.

Over all I'm satisfied.

Oh yea, it is very fun shooting 2liter coke bottles and wet rolls of toilet paper with 55gr hp.

What kind of ammunition were you shooting and what kind of magazine were you using?
