Thanks again guys.

I have been exploreing the Photography hobby. I found my prior years of gun and knife collecting has given me a whole house full of interesting subject matter. There is a large movement going on on Knife forums right now to improve the quality of people pictures.

These pictures were taken with harware store lights and cheap bulbs and a point and shoot camera. Its all about the light.

So, I don't know a lot about steel, and I forwarded these pics to a buddy who asked me the following question, for which I had no answer:

Is that just a surface treatment, or is that the actual pattern of the steel itself?

That steel is called DAMASCUS. It is folded pattern welded steel. In this case by Devin Thomas. This is his Raindrop Stainless Damascus.

Interesting point ... there is a company that makes wedding rings out of Damascus! My fiance and I are eyeing them.

Now I don't think anyone makes color case-hardened wedding rings, or knives for that matter. Revolvers and old-fashioned rifles have a monopoly on that?!

Agreed ... beautiful pictures.

Oh, I get it! I tried to look up this knife at CRKT (Columbia River Knife & Tool). I figured out this is CRK (Chris Reeve). Much better.
