is a Rossi 971 .357 mag a copy

of a smith and wesson. if so which one, its an older interarms import. i'm wanting some different grips and would also like to be able to buy parts if i break the thing.

The Rossi 971 is a copy of the square butt S&W 19. If you take the grips off you gun you will probably find that the back corner of the grip frame is rounded, but the rest of the shape conforms to the S&W square butt design.

I suspect a lot of accessories for the S&W 19 will work with the Rossi 971. I know that B Square makes a scope mount for the 19 that is also spec'd to fit the 971, but you need a 6" barrel to mount it.
