Actually the first one was pretty good, though I thought he had a lot of one shot stops for using a .32 S&W. The story line, acting, supporting cast, and being filmed on location, made the first Death Wish a fairly decent movie for its time. All the aberations that followed were not.

Of course it's not factual.....they call it "Creative License". Haven't you ever seen an Oliver Stone movie?

At one time "factual" movies were called documentaries.....until Michael Moore fudged the rules.

That was the worst of the Death Wish movies, for sure.

Hey, at least it was Charles Bronson. He was my hero when I was a teenager. Come to think of it, I saw those Death Wish movies back then!

If it's Chuck B., it can't be all bad.

After # 1, 2 was a typical sequel, and the series went from ridiculous to absurd from there. Even worse was getting the rocket launcher from a surplus store in CA in Commando.

Looks like somone hasn't seen Deathwish 5.

PS Don't watch Deathwish 5 unless you're really, really bored and don't mind cringing on the inside as all light and decency fades from the universe.

Yup--The Death Wish series was mostly Hollywierd trash. But--They took in good money at the box office. This reflected the public's pent-up frustration with the inability of law enforcement to have an effect on urban crime. They never started a wave of vigalantieism as was feared, but did help to start the CCW movement in several States. People everywhere cheered Bronson as he blew away the scum-bags that they couldn't deal with. The cops aren't made to look as bad and ineffective as they really were (are) and even turned a blind eye to Bronson"s brand of justice. (Like they wouldn't hunt him down with even more vigor than "real" criminals--witness Bernard Getz))

Like it or not, Hollywood reflects what the masses are concerned about. Needless to say they exploit it for all they're worth. Look at today's movies and see what they say about our times---

Actually a SMG-42 turned up under a barn someone was tearing down a couple of years ago. Packed in cosmoline. Don't know what happened to it.

Death Wish

Yeas, Part III was the worst of the series, but Parts II and IV were fun -- if for nothing else that the neat firearms...

Yeah,just 'cause i was curious and too lazy to change the channel, i gagged my way through that a couple months ago, too. The acting was worthy of a porn flick of the same era !!

Oddly enough I was just thinking this during the whole Bronson marathon. The III got a bit hokey at times but so did many of the time's movies. I'm a Charles Bronson fan myself and while he is largely unappreciatted actor in his other movies, he should still be respected figure in cinematopgraphy. Death Wish IV was the best of them in my opinion right after I. And to the .32 Long dropping guys in one shot, I remember reading not too long about a Texan sheriff back in the twenties and thirties who had about two dozen one shot drop kills, again it's about bullet placement.

The Death Wish series was just another expression of society's unanswered woes, a huddled mass of people tired of being victims hung out to dry by UnAmerican beliefs and practices by people who wanted to see patriots made outlaws. My grandpa once told me not long before he died about how once he thought things were going really bad for Americans before Americans and patriots started to stand up again and demand their rights back, back when the NRA made the mistake of trying to appease fools and fascists, back when it was starting to become illegal to be American and demand justice from our politicians and the God given rights to defend our lives and homes from those whom the government would not and still does not deal with justly. <steps down from the soap box> Art reflected life for a time just like the Dirty Harry series did (I think Deadpool was in the mid-80s, Jim Carey's first movie appearance).

Not long ago 'Death Sentence' came out and it's my favorite Kevin Bacon movie. Unfortunately 'The Brave One' came out and it should never have been made. But seriously, if you haven't, check out 'Death Sentence.'

Death Wish III is awesome!

Actually, the revolver used in the first Death Wish was a Colt Police Positive Special in 32 WCF (32-20). Balistics on that cartridge are not too far off from that of the .38 special, and are certainly much better than that of the .32 S&W.

It's just a movie, made for entertainment. Beats watching American Idol or Survivor. Just think how much money C. Bronson made on those movies

Actually, I have seen 5 and I thought it was decent. Other than Bronson was really showing his age in this movie. I really liked the part where Bronson cured Freddie the Flakes dandruff problem!

Actually, I kinda liked The Brave One - And I thought it was pretty credible from the POV of a female victim/protagonist.

I haven't been able to watch Death Sentence without screaming "You Damn Fool - You're Being STUPID!" and hitting the disk skip switch about every 15 minutes...

Isn't 5 where the guy dies becaue Bronson puts arsenic on his cannollis?
