My nine year old knows I carry concealed. When ever we go out to the store he asks me if I am "dressed", a tearm we use for CCW.
Questin: Does your children know that you carry concealed? If not then when would you let them know?

My son conciders it a normal item for me and my Loving Wife to carry. He also knows that it's nobody elses business to know.

I dont have any kids yet but I will put in my 0.02.

I think they should know but only when their are mature enough to understand that it is noone elses bussiness.
I grew up anti-handgun (my parents never really said so but they frowned upon them) and I dont want my kids to grow up that way.

yes they know, and know it's nobody else's buisness
Mine were the same way when they were little. Never once had any problems either.

My daughter is 8. She knows. No mystery left about it. It's just normal everyday behavor for dad to be carrying.

My son, when he sees a gun will say "It's daddy's guns", but it's not like he runs around saying "daddy's got a gun". It's only when he sees one.

My wife is the one who sometimes asks, which is wierd because the answer is always the same. If we're out somewhere and she sees something sketchy she'll ask "Are you?" and that's all. My stock answer is always, "I'm breathing aren't I?"

Exellent answers!!! Let's expand the question a litle.

Does your family know that you carry concealed?

Mine does, all are pro gun and both my Loving Wife and my Mom carry!:D

No my wife doesn't even know when I carry.
If your kids know they might tell there friends.
Nobody knows when I carry it's better that way.

My kids know and my wife knows. When the ex-wife found out from my daughter, she flipped. Went on an anti-rampage. I quietly listened to what she had to say and when she finally stopped, I said "well then, it's a good thing you don't get a vote in what I do with my life, isn't it?":neener:

I'd generally not tell folks, especially very young children. You don't want them blurting out "daddy you have a gun, do something!" in the middle of an armed bank robbery or such while you still have the element of surprise and you are trying to assess the situation.

No - neither my 7 year old nor my 4 year old have sufficient impulse control to NOT say silly things about it in public. They are exposed to firearms on a daily basis, but we don't talk at all about what happens to the firearms when they move out of sight.

The kids have articulated an expectation that I will use a firearm to protect them from the bad guys if it ever comes to that, and that works for now.

I dont see how you can wear a gun and your wife and kids not know that you do, unless maybe you dont wear it all the time, and only sneak it on when you go out. I've always worn mine from when I get up till it comes off when I go to bed, its pretty obvious its there when your walking around the house. My kids always saw it from the time they were born, so they didnt know different and I simply told them it wasnt to be discussed with anyone outside the house and why, and that was that, never had a problem.

Didnt y'all give your kids the "NAZI" speech at an early age? Or are we to far gone from that now too? :)

Yes

My oldest is 33 and married and both her and my son-in-law carry. The next is 31 and he carries. The next is 25 and although she does not carry, she packs Fox OC as do the next two that are 20 and 16. Wife and I both carry and needless to say the kids all know we do. When we go out to dinner at Cracker Barrel there are usually five handguns and various containers of OC at the table.:)

The which who?
The speech about how the Nazi's taught the kids to rat out their parents and then they would come take the parents away and kill them and the kids would have to go live in an orphanage and be good little Nazi's. In other words, you NEVER tell anyone, especially anyone in authority ANYTHING about what goes on in your house...or the Nazi's will come!

I guess these days, its the Republicrats or Democans, same only different, a Nazi is a Nazi. :D

Nazi story is interesting! I agree though in this day and age of doctors and teachers and such asking kids if daddy has a gun in the house.

In some areas I've heard, even in areas as far south as Spain mothers still tell their naughty children "the Norweigian" aka a Viking is going to come get them if they don't behave!

I prefer the Nazi story!

Way back in the 'good ole days' my 2 older sisiers amd Mom, used the term- "your snowing" to tell the other that their slip was showing.

My wife occasionally uses that term or a variety of it regarding my CCW.

Yes my daughter who is 6 knows I carry and that it is our secret. She has developed a respect for weapon systems.

Of course. So do most of their friends; and their friends' parents are glad to know that HERE, their kids are safe.
