Russian AK47 from Atlantic Arms Question:

Also we would not be suggesting the rifles or offering to back them up if we were not comofortable recomending them , we have alot of experience selling the Saiga line plus we are a distributor for the Russian American Armory .I would think this may give us a bit more exposure to a volume of these type rifles and the chance to get more feed back than just internet realted info.

So what exactly is guiding the bullets into the chamber?

I'd like to see a picture of the inside of one of the receivers on the Saiga from Atlantic..

The units that we have been selling do not have one and use normal AK mags , we test fired the first unit we got in and no issues we have been selling them for several months no issues .

I wold say its a great deal! The VEPR rifles were similiarly made and cost quite a bit more. The only thing that is really cheaper would be the Romanian WASR's, and rifles assembled for Century are about the same price. If I didn't have AK's out the ying yang, I would think about getting one. I haven't bought anything direct from Atlantic, but I am still glad we have a company available that is trying to supply the kinds of firearms we want.

I'm not disputing that they use plain ol magazines, I just want to see how they do that....

No, they don't.

Russian military (in semiauto form, of course) arms are barred from import. You are looking at a fully converted Saiga.

Atlantic posts on the Saiga forum too as do I, Nalioth and a bunch of other guys here too...

Most of us Saiga guys are also members on the other AK forums as well, along with Atlantic...

My apologies. I do not like seeing folks taken advantage of.

This is a factory Saiga rifle:


This is what most consider a basic or standard conversion. It has had the fire control group moved back to the traditional location, and a standard Kalashnikov buttstock and pistol grip added. A bullet guide may be an option, if you choose to run the US made mags that work w/o one.


This is a fully converted Saiga. It has all of the aforementioned tasks done, and had its barrel notched for the standard AK lower handguard retainer that has been fitted. This rifle has also had a miltary front sight block installed and the muzzle threaded to the Kalashnikov standard. It also has standard Kalashnikov furniture all the way around.


Russia cannot export anything that looks like the bottom two rifles. They all start out like the picture at the top.

Yeah, keep us updated, I'm curious how it works without a bullet guide.. worse case you install one yourself or ship it back to atlantic, they seemed pretty confident.

Have you looked at the Vector AK at AtlanticFirearms? It's in your $$ range and Vector's have a great rep.

Atlantic Firearms was very slow to respond to emails and were a bit short when they did but that's not a huge deal to me - just kind of annoying.

That having been said I've heard good things about Lancaster firearms and I got a discount from Atlantic for being a member of ak47.net and they expedited my order because I was a forum member which was impressive so I'll post up an honest review when I get the rifle.

Jesse , yes we are short not because we want to be rude but because the 200 pls phone calls daily have been overwhelming and unfortunatley have to be short & sweet to try to stay on top of the surge & still get order shipped out , we also are racking up 300 pls emails and do our best to respond to them as fast as possible . This is all due to the election year, tax refund and the stimulus payments, it will die down in 2- 3 weeks and we will be back at a normal pace . here's the dilema I see for outfits like Atlantic....

"consumers" expect L.L. Bean service....

return for any reason, even if I damaged it...
have 1,000 on the shelf at all times....
24/7 customer service and zero delay on transactions/shipping.
best selection of the best products...
etc..

but...

want the absolute lowest price to be found anywhere.

and after chewing the ear off their local gun dealers clerk for hours, handling guns and asking questions, with make an informed choice.....buying the gun from the lowest price to be had on the internet.

No offense intended, but I see outfits like Atlantic as the lowest price to be had on the internet. They certainly have to have all their bases covered wrt. customer service and shipping and quality products....

But they aint L.L. Bean (and they don't charge $55 for a pair of blue jeans and $85 for a pair of sandles.)

There's a little word out there called overhead. And the outfits with the lowest prices (especially those on the internet) are the ones with the lowest overhead.

Just look at all the Midway USA bashers out their who bitch and moan about how Midway's pricing has gone up and tell of how they are defecting to ABC Little Guy, Inc. because they cost a whole $2 less.

The way I see it, Midway USA is the L.L. Bean of the firearms world. And you pay for that awesome inventory, customer service and same day shipping.

A company is what it is. And imho, should be allowed to be what it is, so long as they are honest about their goods, services and lead times.
