ok you only get ONE weapon for the rest of your life. with this weapon you have to contend with getting possible food, protection, and supplying ammo. what would you choose?

my vote.....

Remington 870 12 ga. ya just cant get much better than that!

Although I really like your choice of the 870 - my S&W Model 629 .44 Mag with an 8" barrel keeps popping into my head.....

Contender 12 Ga.
Nothing to go wrong with it mechanically and there is nothing you cannot kill, overkill or under kill, the shot choices range from a low base very tiny shot to a magnum slug. and ammo is very plentiful.
Pumps, semi and bolt have to many moving parts, no matter the high quality, the more moving parts the more chance of something breaking.

Would have to agree with the .44 mag...but I have the Ruger Redhawk...all around gun...hunting, self defense...not easy to conceal, but could be possible

wow...gotta explain the .44 mag.

well....now that i think about it i can see it i think. i would just worry about ammo cost over time.

The European solution: a side by side 12GA with a 30-06 barrel underneath.

Well, it might be because I'm a little hungry right now and I'm having visions of deer steaks on my grill. :)

now i like the 12 ga. with the .06! why didnt i think of that? do they really make those? if so...how much?

wow...i may have to sell my wife and dog to afford that! but holy crap thats nice....i choose that one as my "only one"!!

A 12ga. 30-06 drilling would be great, but I don't have that kind of money. I'll have to settle for an 870.

Definitely my AK. I won't ever have to worry about it not working.

Great for self-defense, folding stock for some concealability and 7.62 rounds can take down medium game.

Surprised nobody has said this.

My .22

Hey There:
"IF" only one it would be my Ruger 77/22 VBZ.
It would do any of what you asked. A good 10/22 may be just as good or even better. Don't ask and I won't have to tell.

Marlin 1894C in .357 mag.

Takes deer up to 50 m. Good enough if you know how to stalk.
(You do know how to stalk, don't you? :scrutiny: )

Ammo far lighter and smaller than 12 ga.

Lightly loaded, takes small game: squirrel, rabbit, fowl ...

Of course, does a number on 2-legged preds, also.

Light weight carbine fits in pack for long hauls.
