Was watching my favorite channel (The Military Channel) and Weaponology was disecting The Russian Spez Natz. They had a "Former" SpezNatz guy that spoke English very well explaining things and demonstrating things. He did a Manuiver with his AK that blew my mind. He did a click no bang. Like empty mag. Without lowering rifle or dropping mag, he took a new magizine and hit the mag release with it, prying the release against the body of mag. It flew to the ground. At the same time in one swift motion he inserted the new magizine and racked the bolt with his trigger hand. All of this while he still had a bead on his target. He also did a manuiver where he took his left arm and hooked it around the mag and grabbed the pistol grip, and with his left he grabbed his sidearm and was on target with it. With a lift of his left arm the AK was slung across his back and he was in full pistol fighting stance. I was totally amazed by these maunvers as I have never seen any of these tactics. I have always thought of the AK being clumzy to reload and even more so with the sling. Since seeing this, it has opened my eyes up to a whole new level with the AK. I have pricticed this manuver several times since seeing it last night and, It works. If you get a chance I suggust you Record this episode and watch it yourself.:what:

Most people who have an AK has just been handed the rifle and told point and pull. Im sure people could be proficiant with a slingshot if needed

The mag change technique is pretty widely known and employed. It's about the quickest way to get an AK gassed back up.

The transition technique is kind of out of step with US military (and LE SWAT, etc.) practices using slings, but works well with standard Russian/Warsaw Pact AK slings. It's taught by at least a couple guys here in the US who specialize in AK operations, including Gabe Suarez.

lmfao... tell me about it, when i was younger (7-13 years old i was in my country of origin cuba) and owning gun is that country is a BIG NO..NO.! only people that were in the military or LEO were allowed to own a guns, but in general you were allow to own just a Pellet/.22 gun and shotguns,

and Yes, my dad had a pellet gun and my uncle a .22 (i cant remember the brand) but me and my cousins had Slingshots and yeah...we were damn accurate with those things (Minute of Lizard) at 50 yards

The guy's name is Sonny P. I can't think of his last name right now, but he runs his own shooting school. I definitely would like to train with him.

Holy Krap!! that is the same guy that was on Weaponology that im talking about. Who is this guy he seems to know what he is doing

I have been trying to catch that show, but I keep missing it. History and Military channels are my favorite, but my wife hates them.

Yep, I suppose it is a good thing that we never had to face real soldiers. Well, a good thing for us, not so much for the AK-47. I don't think the rifle would have near so bad a reputation for accuracy if we had ever faced an opponent that aimed...

I've reloaded my AK like this for a long time...

And I actually find the AK to be quite ergonomic for me as a lefty.

i use my AK the same way, the fresh mag hits the lever, kicking the dead mag out, snap the fresh mag in, then work the bolt with he hand that just loaded the mag ( the left for a rh shooter)

i know the sling method, but i prefer the "Lock and draw" method, where you lock the rifle in your left arm, and draw the pistol. keeps both pointed down range, and to me a pistol as a last ditch weapon. and i should keep the rifle in the action as long as possible.

It's like training teaches us things.

Ha! I grew up with a rifle in my hand since I was seven and I have shot tin cans and animals too. I even served in the military. There is nothing more your fancy training can teach me. ;)

During the show, a subgun/rifle was discussed that fired a sub-sonic 9mm capable of hitting a target @ 400m and penetrating typical body armor. Does anyone know what type of rifle and round that was? The claims seemed unrealistic.
