I just found out about your upcoming surgery......I want to tell you that my Mom swears that she wishes that she would have done her hip replacement YEARS earlier. She has done GREAT with hers..... and the pain is GONE.

So somebody got you a new TV? If you got a DVD player to go with it [I bet you did], send me an email with your mailing address......I've got some shotguning DVD's for you to watch

Wonderful reading, guys. Let me chime in with my own tribulations. Several months ago, I was diagnosed with the big C. After the initial emotional turmoil, I finally settled down some and am letting the medicos do the driving. I spend my days reading, watching funny movies, praying and studying my Bible. It gives me some peace to do so. Fortunately in my almost 70 years on this round ball, I have been perfectly healthy. Never been in the hospital as a patient, except for one night of observation, but that is another story. Never had a broken bone. Spent 30+ years a cop and never been shot but a couple of times. Supericial, but that ain't what the bad guy got. I've got a lot of knife wounds but all were able to be stitched as an outpatient. If you think that looked bad, you should've seen the perp. It took a bit longer for the doc to fix him up.

I have been on chemo since February, will begin radiation next month. Not looking forward to it.

Let me chime in with my story about the overnight observation. I came down with strep throat about 40 years ago. I went to the ER to have it looked at. Doc wanted to keep me overnight. I was put in a room with an automobile accident victim. He groaned and hollered all night. Every hour the nurse came by with a needle and asked me if I was "Mr. Butler"? Roll over and hoist that split tail gown that looks like a gown if front and looks like me in the back. I can't remember much about that night as the shots were really powerful. The next morning the doctor came in, checked the charts, and began raising the roof with the nurses as the wreck victim hadn't got his morphine shots. The nurse told him that she inquired of us each time as to which patient was "Mr. Butler". The other guy was hurt so badly that he couldn't answer her. It turned out that we both had the same last names and I got the of morphine intended for him. I floated for a few days. I later became friends with the other guy and we have had several laughs about that night. Ironically, he got killed in another auto accident about ten years ago.

Thanks for letting me chime in here. From time to time, I will keep you guys updated about the progress of my treatments. I have a good prognosis but it will take time. Happy shooting!!

Update

I just called the hospital and spoke to Mrs Dave who said Mr Dave is doing very well and things went wonderfully. He wasn't even completely out. They did his surgery with a block in the back. He's a trooper. I understand he went in at 11am and it's not 5:30 and he's up begging for something to eat, but Mrs Dave said the doctors weren't buying. lol

My SO had a hip replacement in February and was shooting again six weeks later. Made a huge difference with the pain he had been suffering through.

That's all the news I have. Dave's a good guy and this surgery will make a huge difference in his life and outlook. Look out Geezer squad. This might be just what Dave needed to run that Chinese trap!
