would i buy a highpoint

Yes, it was my first handgun, fell out of the boat into the river. I now have several others but it sort of holds a nostalgic flavor for me. It saved my but once from an attacking dog. It was one of the first generation jammomatics not one of the new reliable ones.anyway It would not fire more than 4 rounds and then jam but I would rather have 4 rounds than none. I now have one of the reliable ones and I use it for a fishing gun. Cheap just in case another goes into the river.

I noticed an interesting thing when I signed up for a CWP class: they specifically called out Hi Points as not allowed. Every other restriction was caliber-based.

Yes I did & would do it again. I had to find out for myself, all the love-hate relationships with the Hi-Point. Mine works fine & is accurate & feeds anything I throw in. A lot of fun for little money, good range toy. I wouldn't want anyone pointing one at me & banking on it wasn't going to work. NRA PATRON LIFE MEMBER

No, not something I can ever see spending money on when there is so much better for the same price. Being new doesn't impress me.

I got a c9 on a trade, I think I have about 65 bucks in it. I use it as my truck gun so if it gets stolen or beat up I am not out much. I have fired about 3000 rounds through it and it has never missed a beat and for such a short barrel it is pretty accurate. I fire defense rounds, cheap walmart ammo and my reloads and it eats anything I feed it. I have heard that the old ones were crap but if you do a bit of research you will find that some of the LE departments are starting to use them. I am just like all of you other guys in here, I have several guns that cost more and look nicer but I don't have one that is more dependable.

I am curious if any of you guys that don't like them have ever owned one? Not trying to start a war.....Just curious.

but if you do a bit of research you will find that some of the LE departments are starting to use them.

C'mon. Really? Do you do have sources? I don't doubt you. It's just... well....i mean...PD's choosing Hi-points as a primary sidearm for their officers?

I cant find where I read about LE using them but I know for a fact I did. Like I said, I love my c9......She may not be pretty but its a heck of a shooter and more reliable than most guns I have had. I think alot of guys say they wouldnt have one because either:

A: They had a one made years ago.

B: They heard somone else say they are junk and never tried one.

What ever the case mine is a keeper if you can get past the looks.......

Seeing as how I already have a couple Glocks, the pistols don't have so much of a draw.
But I'm tempted to pick up one of the 9mm carbines just for fun.

The hipoints I've shot were all accurate and reliable.
If its ugly and does the job...

i own both the C9 and 995, the 995 has over 6k since the last cleaning and it wont mess up just keeps going. the c9 i only clean every 2k and im at about 4k now and im the orignal owner. never any problems, very accurate, and they eat anything even the 9X18 with no problems. lets see a kimber do that. ya right

Yes, if that was all I could afford at the time.

I agree. Of course, the only other gun I can get in that price range, at least in my area, is a .22 rifle. If I had to buy a hi point, I would probably get it in .45acp and load it with ball ammo.

I have a .40 Hi Point...never a failure. Not terribly accurate but I didn't buy it for matches. At 35 feet it'll get the killin done. I paid 99 bucks for it new and it was 99 bucks spent on a reliable albeit ugly and heavy pistol.

Yes, if it was what I could afford and could get. Against my advice my son bought one as his first purchase because he just couldn't wait to buy his first gun and he had enough to buy a Hi-Point. Contrary to everything I had read, it did function and fire everytime and was accurate enough. I wouldn't trade my Glock or Kimber or for that matter any other gun i own but if it was all I had or could get, it would be better than no gun.

I would if I didn't have any other firearm and that's all I could afford in a pinch. But that doesn't mean I would enjoy it. Lol.
