Don't be to happy. Feinsteine and Shumer are relentless
in their motivation to destroy our rights...

I think I'll stay pretty happy. In light of this decision, continued anti-gun rhetoric just moves the speaker further out of the mainstream.

Here's Chicago Mayor Richard Daly's reaction
Daly is an idiot. Does he really think that he has the ability to ban a particular religion in his city? How about forcing confessions from criminal suspects? How about quartering CPD officers in peoples' homes? Of course not. Neither does he have the ability to ban firearms.

Hey Mayor Daly... here's a hint: Article 6, Section 2:

This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding

2A guarantees the right to keep and bear arms. The Court just re-affirmed that, declaring it an individual right. Therefore, no state or local law can conflict with that.

I imagine they are next. One city at a time we will get our gun rights back
I believe that Wayne LaPierre announced this morning that the NRA is filing suit against the City of Chicago.

Baby Dick says he'll fight any suit. I say let him. It isn't MY money anymore. With any luck, they won't have money for the Olympics.

And knowing the Chicago PD, there are going to be some HUGE judgements against the city in the future.

How about forcing confessions from criminal suspects?

Does the name "Jon Burge" ring a bell?

Not only does Daley think he can force confessions from criminal suspects, he thinks he can do it using beatings, burnings and electricity to the genitals.

I can't wait for the NEXT round of false arrest, excessive force and torture judgements against the city.

Obama, in a typical disguise of his true feelings, announced that he was not apposed to the decision and that he was misquoted in the past on gun issues. If you believe that, I have a nice bridge you can buy real cheap.

Gun laws cause crime by taking away the ability of citizens to defend themselves. Hooray for the supreme court!

I LOVE DEMOCRACY!

Golden Hound, Democracy can also be explained as three wolves and a lamb voting to decide what is going to be served for dinner. I prefer that we return to being the Republic we were born as and not reverting to being Born-Again as a Democratic Country.

For further comment here is Obama's full statement:

Candidate Pander McPanderson said:
“I have always believed that the Second Amendment protects the right of individuals to bear arms, but I also identify with the need for crime-ravaged communities to save their children from the violence that plagues our streets through common-sense, effective safety measures. The Supreme Court has now endorsed that view, and while it ruled that the D.C. gun ban went too far, Justice Scalia himself acknowledged that this right is not absolute and subject to reasonable regulations enacted by local communities to keep their streets safe. Today’s ruling, the first clear statement on this issue in 127 years, will provide much-needed guidance to local jurisdictions across the country.

“As President, I will uphold the constitutional rights of law-abiding gun-owners, hunters, and sportsmen. I know that what works in Chicago may not work in Cheyenne. We can work together to enact common-sense laws, like closing the gun show loophole and improving our background check system, so that guns do not fall into the hands of terrorists or criminals. Today's decision reinforces that if we act responsibly, we can both protect the constitutional right to bear arms and keep our communities and our children safe.

Obama

Typical hypocrite dribble from Obama... claiming to support the 2A while supporting handgun bans, and incremental longgun bans under the guise of "assault weapons". :fire::barf::cuss:

fox had fenty's reaction live but i missed it. anyone know where i can find the video? i searched fox's site and google and i can't find it. or just the text?

Bobby

"like closing the gun show loophole" - Obama

And we are still hearing about this drivel. Yeah. Let's take away a person's right to buy or sell something as an individual during the gun show. Then that will be translated to - well all they will do is meet up with the person outside the gun show or after and make the transaction anyway. So we should ban all individual, face to face, transactions involving firearms of any type.

I can't believe it...

I have never in my adult life been so proud of my country. :D

What a great day to be an American. I only wish my son was old enough to take to the range today.

"A constitutional guarantee subject to future judges’ assessments of its usefulness is no constitutional guarantee at all. Constitutional rights are enshrined with the scope they were understood to have when the people adopted them, whether or not future legislatures or (yes) even future judges think that scope is too broad." Scalia

I haven't attempted to read the entire 150 pages, but I think that Scalia summed it all up nicely in those two lines.

For this one, I just sent the CATO institute 50 bucks for their work in this.

Since the NRA didn't bring the suit, they get no cash.

Tinygnat, you make a very important point: We need to not only support those who made this possible, we need to inform those that did nothing that they GET nothing...

Next time the republican party sends me a request for contributions, I'm sending them a note that details how my money is distributed: and the majority of it is going to pro-gun organizations that DO something, not just SAY something.

Have a good 'un.
:D
