A Mora knives-a.

Ok, sorry.

Really though, I have had such a fun time with this CV Sodbuster Jr., it just takes such an awesome edge fairly easily, that I've really honed my sharpening techniques so to speak.

I would like to get a 4" or so fixed-blade (all-black "tactical" need not apply) knife. Just all-purpose is fine.

Mora seems like a good idea. I just want it to be as schweet as this Case when it comes to sharpening. I know everyone loves them and has 50 of them, but which ONE should I get?

The following caught my eye...

#1

#740-MG

#780 ("Triflex"--is that a good steel?)

If there's another site that you could recommend, feel free.

If there's another fixed-blade knife for cheap that has a steel like I described, recommend away.

Thanks guys.

I love my #1. I once put an edge so fine on it that I used shaving cream and shaved with it.

The Triflex is a "keeper" as well. Differentially heated carbon steel, what you'd expect from a handmade knife -except for only $11.

Oh, one more question, in NC is it totally illegal to carry these - or can I keep it on my belt legally? Or something else?

conwict,

Check NC law to see if you can carry it. Hunting, fishing, working around the house should be fine.

I have the Blue Handled Mora #760 and besides my EDC folder it's the knife I use the most.

The handle's a little bit more comfortable than the wood handled ones (it hold's up better when you 're constantly getting it wet too). The only thing that I don't like about is the sheath. I'm thinking about trying to make one out of kydex.

I have the same knive as above only with a green handle and I use it the most---from scraping out bows to trimming strings to cutting up deer. I also like the clipper. Ragweedforge gives excellant service.

I like handle on the #510 a little better. I've got several of them- glove box, boat, barn etc. I carry an orange one in my hunting pack, very sharp and lightwt.
You might also pick up a #106. very scary sharp little blade. I use it for whittling/carving and I also use it in the garden for nicking the tomatos and peppers off the vine.

They sell Mora`s downtown DIRT CHEAP :S

maybe i should get one. (when i say dirt cheap i mean like, 35NOK...and theres like 5NOK in one USD...)

hso, nc knife law is very ambigabibbled. I think open carry of fixed blades is okay though. And NC seems to define "concealed" is "not visible to the general public," so I imagine if the knife were partially visible I'd be fine.

ambiguous + babble + scrambled = ambigabibbled. I admit to making it up on the spot, and according to Google am the only one to have done so.

Instead, try looking up NC knife law and you'll understand...

I've actually decided to exercise some discipline and hold off on getting another knife (for now).

Now why would you ever want to do something like that? :D

Especially when they're so inexpensive.

Though I commend your discipline, my mora cost me less than a Big Mac meal at McDonalds. It wasnt expensive at all. Use it everyday also.

KI.W is Finnish so I'm not surprised by the Swdish junk comment. I think of it more like the UGA-UT football rivalry.

It would be nearly impossible for a Finn to say something nice about a Swedish knife.;)
