Ruger SP101 Holster Suggestions?

Simply Rugged

My silver dollar pancake arrived yesterday - a little over a month from the order to my door. My Sp101 fits snug but not so snug to inhibit a quick draw. Reholstering is a breeze but a little breakin will be necessary to get the Sp101 fully seated. The inside out loops are sturdy and between the loops and a good belt the holster does not move an inch when carried IWB. The loops allow a slight cant allowing me to conceal the Sp101 with Hogue grips with minimal printing. Overall quality is excellent; good leather, good stitchwork. The holster is not as rigid as I anticipated but I think the "suppleness" of the leather and maleability of the holster is a plus.

The holster was well worth the time and $.

Definitely getting a simply rugged holster for my GP100.

bulbboy,

Does K&D offer that holster with full muzzle coverage? I see an uncovered muzzle like that and my night sights cringe!

Does anyone have a pic of the 2 1/4 in a Don Hume JIT slide?:)
I may pick one of these up till I can either get the K&D or Simply Rugged.

Just curious: why?

Replacement lamps are expensive! I have bumped into things for whatever reason and the front sight took the hit.

K&D also make a 3" version that may be able to work with thr 2" gun and cover it past the front site, but not be to long.

Don Hume 721 OT

Great holster! Fits high and tight, and doesn't break the bank!

For 2-1/4" DAO SP101 my favorite OWB holster is Galco Concealable. But more often I carry it in BlackHawk CQC IWB leather holster made for J-frames. This holster is not marketed for SP but SP fits in beatifully. Holster is very functional and fully adjustable.

Hmmm...if you don't mind me asking, which version of the holster did you get (paddle, 3-slot, etc)?

Thanks.

It's called "CQC Inside the Pants Holster" for S&W J-frame.

Thanks for the info! I'll forward this info on to an aquaintance who just got a new SP101 2.25" DAO :)

I carry my SP101 (3.06" barrel) in a Don Hume Double Nine holster. Works well, good quality and not too expensive.
Mine has a retention strap...I prefer those over rententsion holsters. The Double Nine is available with or without a strap.

I don't have a pic, but I do have a couple of the JIT slide holsters. I will wear one if I am going to be driving for awhile, they are more comfortable in a seated position. However once I'm out of the car I prefer the 721 OT. The JIT slide is a comfortable holster to wear, but you'll find your revolver will 'flop around' a little bit in it. It doesn't hold the weapon against the body quite as well. I have one for my XD and it does the same thing. Great holster for a Makarov though.
