First time I've actually held one seems like a pretty decent 1911 fit and finish were nice I might have to try one out on the range;)

Mine is awesome. You can't beat the price and mine has eaten about 1000 rounds no problems. It functions just fine with any cheap 1911 mag I own.

Got mine in SS. Had to practice with the PT1911SS while the Kimber Pro CDP II was at the factory getting fixed. PT1911SS has run flawlessly. It has earned the spot in the house where I sit!

I went to the fun store last week with every intention of buying a PT1911 but when I got there, the price was a little high and the display model was a little loose compared to everything else I looked at. I ended up snagging a SS S&W1911. Had my desires to have something right then and there not been so great, i'da ordered one from Bud's. The PT1911 will more than likely be my next 1911 as I have caught the bug BIG time!

I've had a PT1911 since Dec of 06 and have not had any malfunctions with any factory ammo.

It didn't like my SWC loads that weren't crimped well enough though!

I've had a PT1911B for over a year. I've been very pleased with the accuracy, reliability, fit and feel of the pistol. I've had zero problems. The pistol shoots as well as the more expensive brands I've fired.

I looked at one in a local gunstore a couple of weeks ago. I liked it but the 600.00 price tag sent me away empty handed.

It's a lot of pistol for the $$. I had one in blue, traded it because the finish wasn't as durable as I liked. Got one in stainless. It's a great shooter but recently the safety has gotten so loose that it engages between shots. Should be a minor fix; I would be the PT1911 again.

I just got mine from Bud's,,, it seems nice and tight. The shop owner that did the transfer had nothing but good things to say about it. I'll get a chance to fire the first rounds this Saturday.

I've looked at these and I liked them. I don't have a 1911 but I want one.
What I'd like to know is this, Is there a better 1911 for the price?
All of the 1911's that I looked at ranged from about $400 to $2,500 and the Taurus seemed like a great value. I have a Taurus PT99AF that I bought new in the early 1990's and it still is and always has been a great gun so I am sold on Taurus but is there anyone that knows of a better route to go when it comes to a 1911 and does anybody want to talk me out of getting one.
I'm not a rich man so I can't really afford a Nighthawk or even a Kimber for that matter.

IMO the 2 tone version of the PT1911 is THE best looking 1911 on the market.

As you can see here most folks do like the PT1911. I do not own one but I would give them serious consideration if I were in the market for one. I think for the stuff they have on them its a good deal. I have only heard/read of one person that has had any trouble with a PT1911 since they came out with it.
Having said that I have owned/used enough Taurus stuff in the past that I would be leary of anything else they make. I know they are getting better with the QC but their lack of it in the past has put a bad taste in some peoples mouth.

"lack in the pass"??? What, they didn't pass another vehicle properly or something?

I have several Taurus handguns, and just recently bought my first 1911- a RIA GI model because I got a smokin' deal on it.

My next firearm will be a Taurus PT1911.
