I am planning on buying my first Sig. I was trying to decide between a Sig 229 9MM or 220 and I picked up a 250. While it's not as handsome as the 229's or 220's, it can be morphed into so many guns and it's got the most interesting trigger I've ever pulled. The plan was to get a 229 or 220 and then get the other of the two next. I'd also like a 239! Anyhow, after playing with the 250 I'm just not sure....it's new (not a good thing for me) and the trigger is extremely impressive (a very good thing), but it's kinda ugly compared to the others (not a good thing)...so what do I do??? I have been stuck in 1911 mode so long I just quite searching but I really want a Sig. Any of you shoot a 250 and like or dislike it?

I have a couple of 220's I really like. The 239 was ok for CCW. I kick myself in the butt for selling my 229. It was an incredibly reliable and concealable gun.

I'd get the P250 for the sake of the modularity it gives you. I'd suggest the P229 otherwise for the same reason, you can swap between .357Sig and 40.S&W.

One gun at a time..

...

Tough decision, but one thing I do know is that one day you'll have all of them..

My first was a Sig P229R CT 9mm, then a P220R/45, then 2 P229/40's

Great weapons.. Each one speaks for itself in its own way.. accurate, dependable, and reliable.. and so easy to disassemble, inspect, clean, and reassemble.. KEY IMO.

Where's the modularity on that P250--AFAIK you still can't get longer/shorter slides, barrels, and other calibers yet! SIG's vaporware, as far as I'm concerned. And when it does (if it does) become available, the prices are asinine. You might as well buy multiple guns.

I can see the draw of the modular concept for an armory... But not an individual, truthfully.

That said, the P250 has a WONDERFUL trigger. I hope it comes to the rest of the Sig lineup.

I've owned 3 SIGs. P220, W German P228, and P239. My favorite of all of them was my P220. Dead nuts accurate, totally reliable, really nice to shoot. Great guns. The "modern" 1911, IMO.

My FIRST Sig is a P229R in 9mm, what a wonderful shooting firearm! There will be many more Sigs in my future.

Every person who has shot my Sig has shot it very well, first time.

It is a classic, a bit heavy, but very doable for CCW.

I'm all about the 229. A 229 in .40 was my first Sig, and others have followed. I'm really partial to the 229 in 9mm, personally.

I am not sure about the 250. It does seem to have a nice trigger, but this modularity stuff hasn't really lit my fires yet. It just seems...wrong. I have no idea why. I don't think I'll get one, but that's simply personal preference.

I own three west german SIGs (P6, P220 and P226) my favorite is the P220. It is my most acurate auto and my favorite. Super reliable. It is just a classic!

start with the 229 in 40S&W then get a sig 357 sig barrel you got two sigs! a 40 & a 357

What he said.
Wish I'd bought more P229 pistols when I had the chance, now with the higher prices (and having bought a house) I have to be satisfied with what I have already.

If it is going to be a carry gun then the P250 is years ahead of the others. Think Glock 19 with everything you love about Sig and none of the things you don't like about the Glock.

They are super smooth. They have longer than necessary reset but then again show me a Sig that doesn't. I really like the small grip for carry. IWB it disappears.

It is dead nuts accurate. Shoots with my P228 and my P229.

I have been searching for a couple of Sigs myself and looked hard at the 250 but decided against it. No particular reason something just told me no. I ended up buying a P-220 Elite and P-226 Blackwater. I am hoping they arrive today. I'm as jumpy as a kid at Christmas.

An Immigration agent let me shoot his 229 in .40 cal. I cannot shoot double action worth a flip, but I could not miss with that gun. At 10 yrds, al the holes were overlapping. I haven't shot any other Sigs, but I sure did like that one!

I'm not worried about pretty, just ergos & function. I really like my P239's one 9mm & the other a .40. I also Have a P229-40/.357/9mm that is a great gun. It's a tad too big & heavy for CCW for my taste, the P239 is my normal carry. I held a P250 & it felt pretty good, but I prefer DA/SA's with a deckocker for CCW & I'm waiting for Sig to Beta test and release the rest of the goodies before I'll bite.

The modular issue really doesn't mean much to me but the trigger is amazing and anyone who hasn't felt one yet just won't understand until they do. I really would prefer a 229 in 9mm or a 220 but then the little 239 would make an excellent carry gun and then there's the little stainless 232...I'm not into 380's or cutesy stuff but that little 232 is just so darned sexy;) I think I'm gonna get a 229 9MM for now and work on a 220 and then maybe a 239 and 232 and who knows where this road will lead.

What he said.

I just don't have much interest in the 357 Sig or 40 S&W. In my opinion a 9MM 115 +P is a formidable round and there is plenty of cheap practice ammo for the 9mm. And then there is the 45 ACP...why do I need or want a 40;) Seriously, I'm not dissing the 357 Sig or 40 S&W, they are both great rounds and I've had a couple 40's. I just prefer the 9 and 45. I'm pretty much stuck trying to decide if I want a 239 or a 229...both in 9MM. I have plenty 1911 45's and a 92FS and what I really need is a good compact semi-auto for daily carry. The 239 is looking better every minute but I can carry a 5" 1911 just fine so it makes me think a 229 would be even better. However, if I'm going to go more compact I might as well go to the 239. My gun shop has a really nice brand new 239 with the Crimson Trace grips but I don't care for the latter....decisions decisions!
